Around 50% of patients are lost to follow up after knee replacement surgery, and in some parts of the country, it is closer to 90%. Who is most likely to miss critical in-person office visits? Workers who can't afford the time off work, rural populations living long distances from their surgeon, those without access to transportation, care givers who can't attend their appointments. #PersonaIQ allows clinicians to follow their patient's progress remotely, identify those who appear to be falling behind, and alert the healthcare team to at-risk patients. Post-operative monitoring is passive and occurs during the daily home and work activities; some practices have successfully changed a patient's treatment and recovery pathway through remote care alone. Our goal is that underserved patients will have outcomes every bit as good as patients able to attend every doctor visit, X-ray, MRI, and PT session - because right now, they aren't. Implemented wisely, digital health and remote care can help democratize care delivery and close the outcome gap. That is exactly what we are trying to do. Under Ivan Tornos leadership, I believe we can take the steps necessary to get there.
