How close are we to the point where an expert won’t be able to distinguish a faked video from an authentic one? That was my question to our guests at the Intel Ignite Tel-Aviv mentor meetup I hosted (read through for the answer 😉) During the Intel Ignite accelerator program, every startup is matched with Intel experts in various topics related to startup challenges, who provide tailored mentorship throughout the program (and beyond). Many of the mentors are repeating participants, and over time we organically formed a mentors community. We recently met to discuss the topic of GenAI video generation: Making “faked” videos, and detecting faked videos. We're delighted to introduce Unify, Intel Ignite London batch 1 alumni! Founded by Daniel Lenton, Unify is on a mission to simplify the fragmented AI stack, making AI deployment faster, cheaper, and simpler for everyone looking to deploy models at scale. Daniel embarked on this journey out of frustration with the fragmentation in the AI tooling during his PhD in AI for robotics and 3D vision at Imperial College London. Daniel Lenton found the technical collaboration and weekly meetings with his Intel mentor team that is part of the program particularly beneficial. On a personal note, he appreciated the community and mentorship aspects of the program, noting, "The personal relationships built with Ofer Shayo [Intel Ignite London Managing Director], hearing his own entrepreneurial journey, having other founders in the program, listening to their struggles which were similar to mine and sharing tips and tricks was great." Daniel says that his biggest challenge is ensuring the right people are brought on board and elevated to positions of responsibility in a timely manner. “It's about connecting to the right people. I've now got a Head of Engineering, a Head of Product, and a Head of Business. They are essentially playing the role of co-founders with their dedication and responsibility.” Daniel gives a nod to his senior engineers, James Keane, Ved Patwardhan, and Arnaud Mardegan, for their contributions. Unify’s journey with Intel continues to evolve. The startup is now enrolled in the Intel Corporation Liftoff program, Intel’s virtual program for AI startups, providing them with early access to Intel hardware and technology, which has significantly aided their product development. Daniel’s advice for fellow startup founders? "Work on something you're passionate about, and celebrate the small things." This mantra played out when he closed a major investment while pitching over FaceTime while standing on Oxford Street because his taxi was late. It's these kinds of moments that perfectly illustrate the passion and never-say-die attitude of a startup founder. While the application phase has wrapped up, I wanted to share some insights into the unique and rigorous selection process that sets Intel Ignite apart.   Over 200 deep tech start-ups were screened, and now, over the next three weeks, our expert team (Mark Castleman, Reed Frerichs, Sharad Garg, PhD, Kelsie Pallanck, Anshul Khanduja, and many Intel Corporation experts) will conduct in-depth reviews to select the top 18 companies for Selection Day.   So, what exactly is Selection Day?
