Women do not have it easy. The barriers that stop women from thriving must be talked about more openly. This was the theme of #UNstoppablewomen that had a panel of trailblazers who not only have broken some barriers for themselves but are now helping other women to do the same. Key takeouts: 📙 senior female leaders should play a more active role in facilitating & coaching other future leaders. Simply saying 'If I could sacrifice my family time then so should you' is not a good enough reason. ☎ Confidence in how you communicate is still a challenge where women sometimes get talked over or simply ignored when giving an idea. Give them the space & actively engage them in conversations. 💴 Sometimes women just need to be given resources to thrive in their venture. VC stake in female ventures is far less than ideal. Happy March 1st and the start of Women's History Month! I am thrilled to kick off a month-long journey of sharing quotes and highlights that celebrate some extraordinary women. Every time I do this project, I find new stories of remarkable women often overlooked from mainstream narratives. This year, I am honored to begin my #FeistyFemales series with the incomparable Anjelica Huston: "It’s kind of like the church. They don’t want us to be priests. They want us to be obedient nuns." These words resonate; reminding me of the pervasive societal expectations that seek to confine women to prescribed roles, limiting our potential and aspirations. I am struck by how prevalent this sentiment remains across various career fields. Far too often, women are encouraged to be passive observers to play subordinate roles rather than seizing opportunities to lead and innovate. Despite these desires of others, however, women continue to defy expectations, shattering glass ceilings and forging new paths forward. In Hollywood and beyond, women have refused to be obedient nuns. Instead, they have courageously confronted obstacles, challenged norms, and transformed industries.
