doTERRA Healing Hands® and Rapha International worked together to provide a trauma-informed aftercare center to sex trafficking survivors in Haiti. Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere. One in four kids don’t live with their biological parents, and the US Department of State estimates 286,000 Haitian children under the age of 15 are currently being trafficked. Survivors are brought to this campus after being rescued by the Haitian government and law enforcement. Professionally trained security guards watch the campus 24 hours a day. Aftercare services with Rapha are built on four “keys to freedom”: safety and basic care, counseling and medical services, education and training, and social work and legal advocacy. Aftercare campuses are staffed by trained experts from the community who understand the culture and are trained in comprehensive and trauma-informed care.
