The Human Artistry Campaign (a coalition of over 200 entertainment organizations) officially endorsed the NO FAKES Act that was just officially introduced today in the U.S. Senate. This legislation, importantly, would create an enforceable new federal intellectual property right allowing victims of nonconsensual deepfakes and voice clones to have them quickly taken down and recover damages. Yes, a rare bipartisan bill. 1moTY Peter Csathy for sharing and kudos to the senators who are pushing for federal legislation to address the unauthorized use of a person's likeness and voice with deep fakes! Even though the LANDMARK BIPARTISAN Bill as different implications than January's NO AI FRAUD Act and the recent state-level ELVIS Act in Tennesee, some sort of legislative action is urgently needed to protect society from harmful misinformation and malicious propaganda. It's a slippery slope, but at least the exploration of incorporating more safeguards and ethical considerations into AI models is moving forward.
