The president of the Spanish soccer federation forced himself of a world champion female soccer player on the global stage. This is just the most recent example of what is wrong with sports. Hopefully he will face consequences, but most likely he will be replaced by a similar person with similar background, values, and patterns of behavior. Why, because sports business leadership is one of the least diverse (gender, race, sexual orientation) groups in business. The result is appalling, belittling, disgusting behavior across the world of sports. Making the thing that is supposed to inspire and bring us together, into another platform to belittle and put us in our place at the bottom of the organization. Its heartbreaking. This is one if the reasons I am so excited to be participating in Black Sports Professionals (BSP) event today. The only way to change this pattern is to invite people who think different, act different and have radically different experiences into the room and into ownership. We are trying.

Now, he has three employees outside of himself and has clients in Grand Rapids, Kentwood, Walker, and Caledonia. They are always accepting new clients! 🧹 We asked Egide if he had any advice for rising black entrepreneurs and he recommended: "First and foremost, I think, is to believe in themselves and their abilities and don't let anybody discourage your dreams or limit your potential. And another thing, get out of your comfort zone and surround yourself with the positive and supportive individuals who share your vision and can offer you guidance along the way. Building your network is very crucial for any industry, particularly for the black business owners, always seek out mentorship and professional connections. Always stay dedicated and committed to your goals. I encourage other black entrepreneurs to push outside their comfort zone and to not settle for simply ‘the American Dream’ because now, it takes more than that. I recognize that there is a lack of information and resources but by encouraging network building and relying on the community of black business owners for advice will take you further. What do you think would happen if ALL the black football players at the U of AL suddenly decided to transfer to a more "enlightened" State? Do you think the AL legislature just might consider adding another Black congressional district? Yeah, I kinda think they would. The Power is neither in our minds nor our bodies. The Power is in our souls, bonded with the spirit of the Ancestors. Real talk. It works. Just ask me. Just ask Coach Prime. When you enable young people, irrespective of ethnicity, to tap into the spirit of the American Enslaved, you unlock unlimited potential. I saw this in my Vietnamese students attending A&T. They were new to the country, but immediately tapped into the vibe at A&T and went on to slay dragons. I don't need to tell you about my black students, they are all studs and studettes. Coach Prime did the same thing at CU: brought in a bunch of carefully selected, talented players, got them to completely buy into his vision, and off they go. Don't know if he tapped into the Ancestors, but he certainly tapped into an HBCU and to me it's the same thing. I did the same thing at NCCU, A&T, Alcorn, and TN State and can do it wherever you have hungry, talented people willing to work. Ethnicity is irrelevant. I carry the Ancestors with me wherever I go and let THEM do the work.
