Wishing everyone a wonderful 4th of July. We continue to be so grateful to all those who serve across the globe safeguarding our freedoms. I had the opportunity to speak recently at the Marine Security Guard graduation ceremony -- these are the forces who defend our embassies and consulates around the world. Here are a few thoughts about the historic and essential partnership between the State Department and the U.S. Marine Corps: https://lnkd.in/eTvMMZxa
Sir, thank you for making the time to attend their graduation ceremony; as a former MSG, and as an FSO today, those young Marines will be exposed to one, maybe even two, of the three “Ds” in Foreign Affairs in the pursuit of freedom.
Great article on Marines and the history of this important role for embassies! I really like, Rich, that you build these relationships personally one location after another.
Thanks for all the good things you continue to do, Mark. Speaking to Marines is something dear to our late Congressman. He served our country well.
For an Air Force guy to honor Marines — that’s a big deal! Well done DMR Verma and congrats to the graduates. Semper fidelis.
Happy Independence Day 💥

16mI’ve seen you in action with all parts of our armed forces, but I’ve also seen your admiration of the Marines who guard our embassies and diplomats and your close relationships with these brave people. Thank you for your service as well🙏🙏
