Without context, everything seems expensive. If I told you now that I charge $1,500 for my coaching services, in isolation, it might seem as ‘not an option’. But my clients go from feeling drained and fearful to feeling deeply fulfilled and courageous - masters of their emotions. And guess what happens? For example, "I used to believe my services weren't valuable, but now I see the positive impact I create!" Repeat🔂 these affirmations daily for at least three weeks. The more you hear them, the more readily you'll believe them. 🔑 Connect with other coaches who support fair pricing. Building a network of like-minded individuals can be invaluable in this journey. I have spent some time on LinkedIn talking about my mentor, the man who instilled in me many of the values by which I live my life and run my business. That man is my father. Sadly, my father is suffering from dementia and no longer recognises me, but I wanted his lessons to live on. He built a successful global business from nothing except a dream and as he built, he kept his own values and ethos in place. I captured his values, ideas and thinking, first into a series of articles and then, more recently into a book. The purpose of the book is to share his thinking, his approach and many of the reasons for his success and to keep his memory alive whilst his own memory is catastrophically failing him. Many of us seek to build businesses or develop our careers and the book is intended to provide some useful guidance but it is also a story of both the man and a successful business. Some of his ideas were so far ahead of his time some might describe them as visionary. He would just say ‘it was just an idea, but it seemed to work’. Part of the secret is how you find the ideas, how you expand on the often daft thoughts people have and how you capture and distil these into actions. Part of it is simply empowering people to have those daft ideas in the first place. Too often I think we forget the wisdom of our elders. As a lifelong rugby player and coach, I always watch in awe as the New Zealand All Blacks perform heir haka at the start of every game. This is a ritual invocation of the spirit and the power of their ancestors. Perhaps this book is my haka but perhaps it might also provide you with just one idea, one thought that can transform something in your working life. I left and made the decision to give my notice the next day. I quickly called my real estate agent because I was in the process of house hunting and told my agent I needed to find the house and close ASAP so the mortgage was approved before HR could tell them I was unemployed. And that was the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey. It only lasted about a year and a half until I went back to get a “real” job. I couldn’t figure out the sales side but the bug had been planted. I love thinking back to that time to remind myself of the excitement and the hustle and effort I made to do everything I wanted to do. So I love coming to events like this that remind me that I have what it takes. I have learned that I need to stop complicating everything – get back to basics and foundations. → I have realized that it’s all about showing up. → Consistently. → And reminding myself how much I love coaching other coaches to build their businesses – and to do it to the best of my ability, I need to show up and to keep it fun. ⭐Every day, I choose to sculpt my destiny with determination and joy, proving that the best chapters are written by those who dare to show up. Last week, one gentleman called me up and was showing interest in Life coaching and expressed his willingness to take a few sessions with me. Until then, everything was fine and we exchange greetings mutually. Before we could end our conversation, he just paused for a while and asked me “whether I offer a money-back warranty?” I also took a pause and replied to him, “No, I don’t. But, I offer value Back guarantee.” On the client’s part, the question was quite normal and nothing wrong in it. But it made me think, has he ever heard from some Coaches that they offer a money-back guarantee? Something to ponder upon. Maybe some coaches must be offering money-back guarantees to make it easier to close sales. Their thinking would be that few people ever ask for their money back, so you'll have a better chance to increase your coaching sales. In my opinion, that approach makes sense if you're selling commodity products. Coaching is something where you are pouring your heart and soul into a coach-client relationship that leads to extraordinary results for your coaching clients. As I mentioned earlier, I call a 'Value-Back' guarantee. If a client isn't completely satisfied, they're encouraged to tell me, and together we'll re-design a plan for them to get the value they invested for. In this case, both the coach and the client win.
