We've come a long way - from 4 states, 10 pharmacies in our beta test just a year ago, to now, this month - thousands of pharmacies in our network across the USA, and thousands more to come. David Joyner, executive vice president of CVS Health and president of CVS Caremark, called out Mark Cuban's drug company in a paid op-ed Fortune published April 3. "The reality is, the Cost Plus offering is neither novel nor unique — it is a generic sourcing business that is 10 years too late," he said. "What's more, it often lacks a consistent supply of products and regularly stocks treatments with short expiration dates, failing to offer the comprehensive and reliable service needed to deliver high-quality pharmacy benefits to a large patient population." Mr. Cuban disagrees.  "We hope they realize that every time their PBM underpays a pharmacy for a script, starts a pharmacy audit because a patient didn't pick up a script, charges a DIR [direct and indirect remuneration] fee, or charges a fee when a discount card is used, they are saying, 'F you' to every independent pharmacy entrepreneur and doing their best to kill their American dream," Mr. Cuban told Becker's in response to the op-ed. #pharmacies #pharmacy #pharmacist #independent #entrepreneur #drugs #generics #transparency #prescriptions #retail #employers #employees #patients #members #selffunding #pbms

**PERSONAL OPINIONS ONLY** 💊 Thank you again to the organizers of Total Pharmacy at Drug Topics for the opportunity to share more this weekend on what we're doing at Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company, PBC. Now is the best time to consider as we are increasing our dispensing fee soon. Feedback from my talk: I heard that one of the pharmacy association leaders said at a recent talk that the best thing for your #pharmacy career is to keep associations around so when you lose your job, you'll have somewhere to go to find a new one. Not exactly super inspiring. What's inspiring is embracing new models of delivering fair pricing, particularly for those who are not lucky to have any sort of pharmacy benefits, and do it now to make it automatic, so you can get back to practicing the way you want to practice with other innovative service models. Test to treat, providing vaccines, PGx, and expanding scope of practice are ways to drive the profession of #pharmacy forward and provide a more rich, satisfying career. We also need to provide new options for self funded employers so they can abandon big PBM practices from now on and help their members with transparent, affordable options and care closer to home. Last and most important - we offer all the drugs on the TCC drug list at our Cost Plus Marketplace, so your pharmacies may purchase at our actual reimbursement costs. Your pharmacy should not go underwater on ingredient costs on our program.
