I have worked extensively with solar cookers and they are really a good option for reducing the CO2 emissions. However, I have found that the behaviour shift needed for sustained adoption requires a long term commitment to training and capacity building, which is expensive and usually no one's baby. So, there are more than thousands of solar cookers of even community scale (scheffler dish types) that are simply lying abandoned even in communities where the carbon based cooking fuels are becoming very expensive (in money or effort, or both). I encourage a fresh look and effort at bringing the solar photovoltaic panel with a DC induction cooker as a major solution component. These will not require as much training and the SPV panels are definitely more sturdy and use less space than the solar thermal cookers. #solarenergy #sustainability #socialimpact #carbonemissions
