As we celebrate the start of the new year, we took a quick look back at Cooper/Smith's Top 5 of 2023:
1) Our letter in the The New York Times about the need to authorize #pepfar. Tyler Smith and I stated: "What sets PEPFAR apart is not only its remarkable achievements, but the revolutionary way it has used data-driven management to drive efficiency and thus save more lives.”
2) We thought about, and worked a lot on, AI. Our blog on The Case for AI and Global Health was featured in ICTWorks. We talked about 7 ways we believe AI will transform Global Health for good!
3) And how countries need safe, secure AI sandboxes…(we're working on it!)
4)We shared ideas at global gatherings - from the Global Digital Health Forum to ITU's AI for Good, the Africa Health Tech Summit, AWS re:Invent, the International AIDS Summit to UNGA (just to name a few), we shared thoughts, saw old and made new friends, and presented the results of our work: focused on helping decision-makers better understand service and care gaps and anticipate the needs of their populations.
5)And we worked with decision-makers to plan for climate- related shocks before they happen. We are working with countries supporting data use to optimize responses to climate-related health shocks. Our next focus is predicting the effects of climate and disease shocks.
