Synthetic, or as referred to in Europe, Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) transactions have seen a notable pick up this year in the US. This development has aligned with the “Capital Recession” theme we have outlined as ongoing with the various factors impacting bank balance sheets. Though inflation is moving toward the Fed’s target, albeit slowly, and labor market is coming into better balance, the economy remains far from the Fed’s dual objectives. Both verbal guidance from Powell and the Summary of Economic Projections will probably signal that the Fed still expects to lower rates in 2024, but by less than the three quarter-point cuts signaled in the March SEPs. David served in numerous legal, compliance and operational leadership roles. He joined Sculptor in 2007 as the firm’s first General Counsel for Asia and later transitioned to the expanded role of Chief Operating Officer for Asia. With a background as a private equity lawyer, he expanded his expertise at Sculptor into alternative investing, partnering with Sculptor’s investment teams across equities, credit and convertible derivative arbitrage strategies. Returning to New York City from Hong Kong in 2020, he assumed the role of Sculptor’s Global Chief Compliance Officer, championing Sculptor’s commitment to fostering its ethical business and client-first culture.
