📣 Happy to share our latest publication in the Journal of Multidisciplinary Healthcare, titled "Exploring the Support and Involvement of Family Caregivers for Reablement Programs: a Qualitative Study". The voice of family caregivers is often forgotten when evaluating services such as #reablement, despite them being a key figure. Therefore, we studied how family caregivers perceive support and involvement, and how this can be optimized in their opinion. The results of our study could inform future researchers and practice who want to implement reablement or improve their current reablement services on how to provide adequate support and involvement for not only the family caregivers, but also the client’s wider social network in the care process. As professionals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older adults, we understand the delicate balance required in addressing health concerns while preserving dignity and privacy, particularly in long-term care settings where individuals face unique challenges such as incontinence. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics, a significant percentage of older adults in assisted living facilities require assistance with toileting, with the prevalence of incontinence ranging from 50% to 90% during their stays. This issue not only impacts comfort but also poses serious health risks, including falls and related complications. [McKnight's Long-Term Care News] At Advosense we are keenly aware of the urgent need for innovative solutions that effectively monitor incontinence while upholding the dignity of older adults and streamlining the caregiving process. That's why we are diligently working on pioneering advancements in senior care technology. As we continue our mission, we remain steadfast in our commitment to championing dignity, respect, and well-being for older adults. Together with our partners and collaborators, we are shaping a future where technology catalyzes compassion-driven care, enabling older adults to age gracefully while maintaining their autonomy and dignity. It's great to work with Martina V., Erin Webb, Christopher Norman, Tyler Black, and Emerson Kirby to revolutionize senior care and create a world where every individual receives the support and respect they deserve. Thanks to McKnight's Senior Living for the mention and the excellent article. https://lnkd.in/gY28zWdR

Family members and attorneys for personal care are often ill-prepared for their role and surprised the caregiving role may go on for 10 or 15 years with increasing hours required over time as the disease advances. As family members and planning advisors, one of the first steps we can take is to educate ourselves and our clients on the realities of care management and then focus on personalized care planning and how to pay for it. #Dementia #ElderManagement

Director Care Campaign for the Vulnerable💜💚(CCFTV) 26,000+ not for profit, national, #SafetyInCare #Tech #CareProviders #KeyNoteSpeaker #AmbassadorBRACE #CHPPowerList2023 #LeadingWomenInCare2024 #EllensMemory☘️
In 2015, deeply concerned about the conditions at my mother's care home, I publicly advocated for its closure. This decisive action stemmed from a visceral reaction to seeing firsthand how families, including my own, felt devastated when their loved ones were failed by the system. My response was guided by an urgent desire to protect those who could not protect themselves. However, over the years, as I immersed myself deeper into the complexities of the care sector, I came to understand more about the nuances of care provision and the significant impact of leadership and management on care quality and the need for an Independant overview. Care Campaign for the Vulnerable is dedicated on improving care standards, with a particular focus on dementia care, learning that systemic change often requires transformation from within rather than closure. This insight was powerfully reinforced when I was invited back to the very care home I had once wanted to shut down. Returning as the director of the Care Campaign for the Vulnerable, I witnessed firsthand the incredible work, dedication, and positive changes that had occurred following a change in the management. The transformation was a testament to what can be achieved with the right leadership and a commitment to dementia care excellence. This experience was enlightening and profoundly humbling, illustrating that while the desire to act swiftly in defense of vulnerable populations is necessary, the paths to achieving lasting improvements in care are often complex and require both patience and perseverance. Listening to families recite statements similar to those I once made has also shaped my approach to advising them. Through my experience, I have developed a different perspective on guiding families through their challenges with care homes. This approach not only fosters a more positive environment but also promotes sustainable change, benefiting both residents and care providers. This journey has taught me the importance of balancing immediate actions with long-term solutions, and it has deepened my commitment to advocate for high standards in the care of older people with dementia through constructive engagement and support for care homes striving to improve.#TurnAround #SafetyMonitoring #CareCampaignForTheVulnerable #ellensmemory #DementiaCare #FamilySupport #CareProviders
