Bringing together TikTok powerhouses Chris Olsen (12.1M followers) and Ian Paget (2.5M followers) post their high-profile breakup, the campaign delves into candid conversations between exes, placing emphasis on real connections over products. Here are my 4 Key Takeaways on Building Innovative Creator Campaigns: 1️⃣ Beyond Conversion Goals: While sales are crucial, creator content drives brand recognition, customer acquisition and trust. Content that focuses too much on conversion can come across as inauthentic. Creator content also has the goal of going viral, which means it needs to entertain. Nearly 80% of Gen Z and 61% of millennial women consider creators their most trusted source for beauty recommendations. (according to LTK (formerly rewardStyle & LIKEtoKNOW.it)) 2️⃣ Respect the Creator's Brand: Think of creator and influencer collaborations as co-creation. Beauty, this meant featuring an organic, honest conversation between Olsen and Paget, which was in line with Olsen’s brand of raw and vulnerable content. 3️⃣ Harmony with Social Platforms: Effective creator campaigns are made for social platforms, not placed on top of it. For TikTok, this means avoiding overproduction, encouraging sharing and interaction, and finding ways to work brand opportunities into regular content. 4️⃣ Keep Your Finger on the Pulse: Social media culture moves fast. Stay attuned to trends and cultural shifts. Jumping on a trend too late risks appearing out of touch. That is exactly why Anna Peters, Sam Villa ArTeam Member and owner of re:TREAT Color + Hair Design and Studio @annas_hair_retreat, wants you to take this as your sign to do just that. Recently, she sat back and took a peek at the salon she created and decided to use her new perspective to create a reel that talks to not just one but three target audiences on social media. “When you think about social media and marketing, consider how you can hit three targets with one post. When I made this video I was considering who I wanted it to speak to and how I wanted it to make them feel…and I actually covered salon owners, future staff and potential clients all in one!” explains Peters. So, it's infuriating to see beauty companies using Photo editing and Video editing to sell products. 🚫✨ Here's the tea: 🔍 Fake Ads, Real Consequences: When brands use heavy editing, they're lying to us. It's false advertising, plain and simple. Consumers deserve the truth about what they’re buying. 💡 Be Ethical or Bye: Brands should boost our confidence, not tear it down with fake perfection. It's about time they take some moral responsibility. 📉 Trust Issues Much?: Keep it real or lose your audience. Misleading ads break trust, and once it’s gone, it’s game over for brand loyalty. 🚫 Stop the Unrealistic Standards: Unrealistic beauty ideals are toxic. They mess with our mental health and self-esteem. Beauty brands need to stop feeding us lies and start celebrating real beauty. Let's push for some serious penalties for these deceptive practices. Split screen ads, featuring concepts like "Before and After" or "Our Product vs. Theirs," can be incredibly effective. But why? Let me break it down for you with a simple, relatable example. Imagine you're selling hair growth oil for women. Your current Facebook ad showcases a girl with stunning, healthy hair – the end result of using your product. People see it, think "Wow, she has great hair," and scroll on. But, wait, what if you added a twist?  What if you displayed her hair before using your product – thinning, receding, and struggling – right next to the transformation? Suddenly, your audience feels a CONNECTION. They see themselves in the "before" image and are eager to learn how your product can change their own hair journey. It stops their scroll. This small psychological tweak – showing the contrast – can make a world of difference for your campaign. It taps into how our minds naturally process information which is in relation to others and context. This is how our mind is wired.
