Global Volunteers Co-founder and CEO, Bud Philbrook says, “Global Volunteers’ philosophy of service is grounded in the basic fact that local people are only in charge. We only serve where we’re invited, we only work on community projects we’re asked to, and we always serve under the direction of local leaders.” Learn more about #GlobalVolunteers in this video from the latest #ORGInAction feature from Public Interest Registry.

Vice Manager of Attendance Experience TEDXUniversitasNegeriSurabaya | HR Intern at StudentsXCEOs East Java | Delegates of AIESEC Future Leaders Winter Peak 2024 | Undergraduate Psychology Student
Community Organizing for Action 🕵️🌠🔊 In Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI)'s course, i learn a lot about the four lessons. First, Attracting and Motivating Volunteers, i learn how to recruit and retain volunteers who are committed to your organization’s mission. Next, Inspiring Community Participations, this lesson demonstrates how to inspire citizens to take positive actions on their collective behalf and maintain their involvement for the long term. Then, Engaging Your Community, i learn about ways to foster community engagement, because community engagement is about involving the people you serve as beneficiaries and as partners in your mission. Lastly, Creating a Succesful Grassroots Campaign, this lesson provides step-by-step recommendations for building a realistic and achievable movement for change by implementing grassroots campaigns, identifying tasks and delegating responsibility. #LearnShareImpact #DareToLead #StudentsxCEOs #StudentsxCEOsEastJava #FutureLeader

Ronald Ferguson encourages #BLN2023 attendees to think strategically about how to form partnerships with community leaders. It all boils down to one word: Trust. Community partners need to know "what's in it for them" when you pitch The Basics. They might've already been doing this work for more than 40 years. Show how The Basics can help further their agenda (whether it's through compensation or media attention), without asking them to do a lot of extra work. The Basics lifts up the work that your community is doing. The Basics doesn't threaten the work that is already being done; it only reinforces it. What other advice would you give to attendees on how to pitch The Basics to community organizations?

This resource has come back into conversation a few times the past month. "The Spectrum of Community Engagement to Ownership charts a pathway to strengthen and transform our local democracies. Thriving, diverse, equitable communities are possible through deep #participation, particularly by communities commonly excluded from democratic voice & power. The stronger our local democracies, the more capacity we can unleash to address our toughest challenges, and the more capable we are of surviving and thriving through economic, ecological, and social crises. "It is going to take all of us to adequately address the complex challenges our cities and regions are facing. It is time for a new wave of community-driven #civicleadership. Leaders across multiple sectors, such as community-based organizations, local governments, philanthropic partners, and facilitative leaders trusted by communities, can use this spectrum to assess and revolutionize community engagement efforts to advance community-driven solutions." https://lnkd.in/e8X-RtGC

Transparency is the cornerstone of effective leadership, especially in the nonprofit and public sectors. By being open and honest with our community partners and stakeholders, we uphold the trust placed in us and ensure that our actions align with the interests of those we serve. This transparency, rooted in clear and direct communication, empowers our communities and partners by providing them with the information they need to be active participants in the decision-making process. It ensures that resources are allocated efficiently and that the voices of all community members are heard and respected. When we communicate openly and honestly, we not only drive the success of our projects, programs, and partnerships but also build stronger, more resilient communities that thrive on mutual trust and collaboration. #StrongerTogether #SEIdaho #Partnerships #Transparency #Communication

It's been an incredible start for our team at the Democracy Network Annual Conference 2024 ✨ NationBuilder Organizer, Sarah Gaylard shares her experiences, "Day #1 united passionate nonprofits, campaigners, and activists, fostering collaborative discussions on elevating engagement and participation in our democracy. Discussions from our panelist’s and fellow delegates on how we can engage 'the missing millions' raised ideas and learnings on how we can mobilise participation through the very issues that have created anger and sparked public debate/divide. A key takeaway from this was around how we can meet people where they’re at, within their communities through peer-to-peer networks to generate conversations that lead to action and legacies of engagement." Day #2, we're ready for you ✨ Connect with our team— Harriet O'Halloran, Oliver Wells, or Sarah Gaylard—to explore how NationBuilder’s intuitive software can equip leaders like you to put people at the center of your work and inspire action that shapes a brighter democratic future. #NationBuilder #BuildTheFuture #DNCONF24 #Leadership #TechForGood #CommunityEngagement #PoliticalActivism #CivicTech #LeadershipDevelopment

Clinical Neuropsychologist | Commissioner at Victorian Multicultural Commission | Board Director at Victorian Pride Centre
It's National Reconciliation Week, and now more than ever we need to open (or re-open), and nourish connections between First Nations Peoples and multicultural communities. Roads to Reconciliation: Activating Multicultural Communities are exactly one of the innovative and impactful programs that does this
If a photo can share a thousand words, this photo certainly does that when it comes to describing the extensive work carried out across the pilot year of Roads to Reconciliation: Activating Multicultural Communities. “Now more than ever”, our work in twenty local government areas across Victoria has been needed to bring together multicultural community leaders, with local governments, and First Nations leaders… Our first year on the road was wrapped up with a Community Summit brought to you by the National Centre for Reconciliation, Truth, and Justice and delivered in partnership with Reconciliation Victoria and supported by the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria. Here’s looking forward to getting support for year 2… Photo: Dr Judy Tang - Commissioner, and Community Fellowship recipient, Commissioner & Deputy Chairperson - Yoorrook Justice Commission - Sue-Anne Hunter, and Darebin City Council - Cr. Emily Dimitriadis.
