#Recovery is real. But the concept has been defined, described, and discussed in so many different ways that it may have maximized the impact it can have on mental health policy and services. In this article (This link should provide free access - https://rdcu.be/dMUQo), I propose building on the concept of recovery by fully adopting and promoting #communityinclusion, which has the potential to move the field forward in revolutionary ways. At Little Otter, we understand that mental health awareness is just the beginning; true change comes from sustained, collective action. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are proud to join leaders in youth behavioral health in a year-round commitment to improving youth mental health. This year's #MentalHealthActionDay theme is, 'Dedicate One Hour to Connection,' highlights a powerful yet simple truth: feeling connected, seen, and understood by a trusted adult is crucial for supporting youth mental health. Strong relationships not only enhance youth well-being but also enable early intervention, which is essential for addressing unmet mental health needs before they escalate. We encourage everyone—youth and the caring adults in their lives—to recognize that experiencing mental health challenges is normal and seeking support is not only okay but necessary. Take a moment today to connect with a student, friend, or colleague, and don't forget to check in with yourself as well. Beyond this month and this moment, let's keep the conversation about mental health going all year long. Remember, no one has to face their struggles alone. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of young people and build a brighter future for all. 💙 Read the full statement: loh.care/MHAD2024 and spread this powerful message within your community. Your action today can truly change a life. #MentalHealthActionDay #YouthWellness #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth Backpack Healthcare BeMe Health Bend Health Brightline Cartwheel Clarity Pediatrics Daybreak Health Equip Hazel Health Little Otter

🌟 Embracing Youth Mental Health Day: Let's Prioritize Well-being! 🌟 In a world where our young generation faces unprecedented challenges, it's crucial to emphasise the importance of mental well-being. 🧠💪 💡 Here are a few steps we can take to make a difference: 1️⃣ Raise Awareness: Let's keep the conversation going! Sharing stories, experiences, and resources can help reduce stigma and encourage open discussions. 2️⃣ Supportive Environments: Schools, workplaces, and communities should foster an environment that promotes mental wellness. Let's make sure young people feel safe, heard, and valued. 3️⃣ Accessible Resources: Ensure access to mental health services and resources for young individuals. Together, we can break down barriers to access. 4️⃣ Self-Care and Education: Encourage self-care practices and mental health education from an early age. Knowledge is power, and it empowers young people to take control of their mental health. 5️⃣ Be There: Sometimes, all it takes is being there for someone. Be a friend, a mentor, or a listening ear. Your presence can make all the difference. Let's stand united in the fight for a world where young minds are nurtured and supported to thrive! 🌍💙 Remember, mental health matters every day, not just on Youth Mental Health Day. Let's keep the momentum going, break the stigma, and champion the well-being of our youth. Together, we can make a lasting impact. 💪🤝 #YouthMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters #SupportOurYouth #WellBeing #MentalHealthAwareness #TogetherWeCan #MakeADifference

Workplace Mental Health Specialist, Senior Psychologist & Co-Founder of Mindarma, External Fellow at The Black Dog Institute/UNSW Medicine. Working from Nyangbul Country
This morning we launched Mindarma's Self-Compassion Series with the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing in Victoria as part of their Wellbeing Month. Grateful to have had Secretary Peta Mccammon and Deputy Secretary Kathleen Alonso launch the series. Over 440 people joined us for this morning's session. It was wonderful to have such a lovely group online to explore the neurobiology of Self-Compassion and the many mental health benefits of these practises. We also explored two self-compassion meditations via experiential practise. DFFH employees do incredibly important work in our communities which can often go unnoticed. Throughout October we'll be sharing different self-compassion and proactive self-care strategies that are proven to protect mental health and wellbeing when working in service-to-others roles. #wellbeing #selfcompassion #selfcare #mentalhealthmatters #proactive #selfcarematters #October #service #mentalhealth #community #care #servicetoothers #bekindtoyourmind #protactive #evidencebased #strongertogether

The month of July is Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health struggles for the BIPOC community are unique in nature due to the complex interactions between BIPOC individuals and their environments. ETR’s Health Equity Framework (HEF) breaks those complex interactions down by four spheres of influence. ➡ Relationships and networks ➡ Individual factors ➡ Systems of power ➡ Physiological pathways As a health equity organization, we acknowledge these intersectional factors and remain dedicated to doing the work to help BIPOC individuals where they need it most to achieve their best health. Learn more about the HEF, spheres of influence, and how you can apply it to your mental health equity work at our website: https://hubs.la/Q02DVTmZ0 #BIPOC #HealthEquity #Healthcare #BIPOCHealth #PublicHealth #Health #Intersectionality #NonProfitHealth #Equity #MentalHealth

Proud to announce that I am now certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid by National Council for Mental Wellbeing! Completing this course has equipped me with the skills to provide initial help to young people experiencing mental health or substance use challenges, which is important when working in developing and coordinating youth programs. Understanding and addressing mental health is essential when working with youth. Here’s why: 🔹 Early Support: Identifying signs early and providing the necessary support can make a significant difference in a young person's life. 🔹 Creating Safe Spaces: Youth need environments where they feel heard and understood. This training helps us create those supportive spaces. 🔹 Empowering Youth: By understanding mental health, we can teach coping strategies and resilience, empowering youth to navigate challenges effectively. 🔹 Reducing Stigma: Normalizing conversations around mental health is crucial. This certification is a step towards breaking the stigma and encouraging openness. 🔹 Holistic Approach: Mental health is as vital as physical health. Addressing it ensures we are supporting the whole person. Thank you to the National Council for Mental Wellbeing for this valuable training. Let's continue to prioritize mental health and support our youth in every way we can. #MentalHealth #YouthEmpowerment #FirstAid #SupportiveEnvironments #BreakTheStigma #HolisticDevelopment #YouthWellbeing #MentalHealthFirstAid

Welcome to the HBCU Center for Excellence in Behavioral Health. Please follow our page as we grow. In the coming months, we will update you on our signature project: the L.E.A.P. Pre-Career Footsteps Mentoring Corps. Many have reached out and expressed interest. We appreciate your support and work hard to ensure the kickoff is strong. Stay tuned! This, our first post, highlights #mentalhealthmonth2024. SAMHSA recognizes Mental Health Awareness Month (MHAM) every May to increase awareness about the vital role mental health plays in our overall health and well-being and to provide resources and information to support individuals and communities who may need mental health support. Listen to a word from SAMHSA's leadership Assistant Secretary Miriam E. Delphin-Rittmon, Ph.D. The theme for Week 1 is Older Adults. Key messages are: *As we age, we may experience life changes that impact our mental health. *It’s never too late to get help. *It is important to remember that older adults may have different mental health symptoms. For example, a lack of interest in some activities. *Talking about mental health can help older adults feel more comfortable asking for support. *Mental health treatment can be part of a wellness program to help older adults live happy and fulfilling lives. *Mental health professionals can help older adults cope with life changes. *Friends and family can experience meaningful mutual connection by spending time visiting with older adults. *Mental health is important at every age. Spending time with friends and family can boost older adults’ mental and physical health.
