What is the single most important thing leadership? Communication? Important, but no. Empathy? Critical, but no. Active listening? An important skill, but no. The single most important thing in leadership, happens to be the most important thing in life. Ready? It's simple and everyone can do it. BE A GOOD PERSON!!

I would agree other than one quick look at the worlds "leaders" and its almost as if the opposite seems true. Goodness = weakness, telling the truth is a risk and demonstrating empathy makes you a punching bag. I'm far from perfect, but regardless of the misperceptions, I'm going to do my best to be a good person of high integrity and be mindful of those around me. Anything else, for me, is disingenuous.

Really good post. I thought the word you were heading towards was "integrity." With integrity, you communicate with your actions. You need to empathize with those you lead to have integrity. And that takes listening. And it takes integrity to be a good person!
