After a pandemic pause, excited to announce I’m back at the 2024 BIO CEO & Investor Conference in NYC, probably the highest concentration of biotech investors per square meter, making it the richest ground on earth – at least in terms of innovative investment opportunities. After the last few depressing quarters, there's a unanimous vibe that the tide is turning. Investors agree – the upturn has begun, with venture capital investments flowing and valuations climbing. It's music to the ears of us in the biotech field! This year is particularly special as I represent not one, but two ventures: RS Research & PDC Therapeutics. Each stands at the forefront of groundbreaking drug development, with RS Research speeding up with its clinical candidates in oncology and PDC Therapeutics reshaping the landscape of targeted nanomedicines with its innovative drug delivery technology. Pain reduction scores were dramatic from a high of 8/10 to 3/10, with a very clear preference for ANT’s product over a market leader in terms of pain and reduction in swelling and soreness in the affected areas. - Important progress was achieved in the Biopsy space, with a growing number of grants of patents here, as in other areas. The most recent was India, joining Australia and Japan in the period. ANT plans to begin manufacturing and sales this year whilst transitioning to the new Medical Device Regulations that govern their sale in the EU. - Drug delivery for cancer and other conditions (medical and non-medical) has shown enormous promise following tests on live tumours. The devices have attracted attention from both clinicians and industry. After a period of market volatility, this trend could suggest growing confidence among investors and companies alike which can facilitate #innovation and access to novel treatments for patients. Despite challenges like valuation cuts, data-driven decision-making remains paramount in navigating the transition from private to public markets. Ultimately, the resurgence of crossover rounds signifies a promising outlook for #biotech advancement and may translate to improved outcomes for patients in need of innovative #therapies.
