CEO and Chief Recruitment Officer at American Airlines

The #AATeam works around the clock 24/7/365 to live out our purpose of caring for people on life’s journey, whether that’s on their next flight or inspiring the next generation to pursue an aviation career. Take San Diego aviation maintenance technician (AMT) Ken MacTiernan, for example. Ken might work behind the scenes keeping American Airlines safe, but his service and achievements throughout his career deserve to be in the limelight. Ken is a legend in the aviation maintenance community, so it’s fitting that he recently became the first active AMT to receive the 2024 Airlines for America Nuts and Bolts Award. Not only does he do superb work at American, but he also does so much to inspire future AMTs to follow in his footsteps. To all our team members, Happy #EmployeeAppreciationDay. Thank you for all you do.

Ok - pilot lied to us again. They just began loading the luggage. Easy another hour delay.

I will love U.S Airways aka American Airlines no matter what anybody else’s negative opinion is about the airline I love that airline and those angels that fly for the airline and everyone that ever flew or worked for the airline and that will never change no matter what anybody else says about the airline!💞☮️✈️🇺🇸❤️

Now they are saying a third plane is required because the tire change will take too long. Thats 3 planes in 6 hours and zero miles flown. Our luggage is on plane 2 ( it took hours to get luggage from plane 1 to plane 2 ). There are people here with oxygen tanks. Now to a third gate with a third plane ( no idea if there will be a crew, if our luggage will transfer or if the third plane has a working generator system or tires that work )

Since AA won’t take even a minute to even listen to me or compensate me for the stress they have put me and my kids through I guess I have to find another means of getting someone’s attention. I am NOT HAPPY! I need to be FULLY refunded all expenses immediately as I have been strung along by American Airline, stuck in Miami without clothes for me, my 4 year old and 7 year old. Hungry, tired, stressed and I missed all important events due to negligence on the part of American Airline. I had to redirect my flight back to Charlotte so that my girls and I could go home, get cleaned up and not get stuck in an unknown city. To add insult to injury, Mr. Harlie James sent an email response with “an apology” and a $25.00 travel credit after I spent $2500 US dollars on a trip. Then Mr. Chris Williams gave me $50 that is worth $150 for individual travel credit. I am requesting to be heard by someone, refunded and compensated.

Ken is a top shelf mechanic and a true leader for our craft. But more importantly, he is a great human being, that I am proud to call my friend. Congratulations Ken. Well earned award!

Ken Mactiernan continues to emulate a true master of his craft and I can recall countless time during my years at AA-SAN his relentless pursuit for excellence in every wrench, screw or tool he touched. Robert Isom, his work has impacted millions of passengers and crews and while they may never know his name, they sure are grateful for his passion. Congratulations, Ken!

Ok. Gate D1 to Gate D46 back to Gate D10. Anyone who’s been to miami airport knows that is some serious steps. Big question now is how long will it take the inept american airlines to reload luggage. New departure 11:15 ( won’t happen ) new arrival 2 am Sunday. ( ditto ) missed a great Saturday night with family ( thanks american airlines )
