Last week, I gave an online seminar for Korean students at Chungnam National University on “How did Mendel arrive at his discoveries?” (https://lnkd.in/eTHWZ4zW). The Q&A session lasted over one hour, and the students asked many great questions. Due to Mendel's posthumous recognition, primary historical sources are scarce, though some new documents have emerged recently. With Noel Ellis, I am working on a book Brill will publish next year: “Mendel's Genetics: Hybrids, Heredity and History.”

For many of us, these are rare spontaneous occurrences that happen unexpectedly and punctuate an otherwise quite ‘normal’ existence. Nevertheless, they can have a profound impact on us, expressing something fundamental about what it is to be a living, conscious being. By publicly reflecting on spontaneous parapsychological experiences, researchers can perform an important social function in showing that they constitute a natural part of the normal range of healthy human experience. They can empower experiencers to reflect on and make sense of their own experiences, despite a cultural backdrop that regards them as foolish or even pathological. We can consider individuals who identify as ‘psychic’ or ‘mediumistic’ to see how they are able to come to terms with their experiences in psychologically healthy and socially functional ways… In exploring these themes Chris Roe draws on compelling research conducted at the University of Northampton, some of which is still ongoing. In my realisation it’s eternal poiesis where it’s alike neutrino’s fusion in the past, present and future simultaneously. Polzin and colleagues examined the molecular changes in the mPOA that were associated with gregarious song in European starlings (Sturnus vulgaris). High-throughput transcriptome analyses identified glutamate and dopamine pathways were highly enriched with gregarious song. The Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago, and scientists estimate that life originated in its primordial oceans about 3.8 billion years ago. In a series of studies, researchers from Tokyo University of Science, led by Prof. Koji Tamura, shed light on the origin and evolution of life on Earth. They studied the aminoacylation of tRNA and delved into the origins of amino acid homochirality, tRNA, and the genetic code. They also devised a model molecule for the ribosome and explored the origin of protein biosynthesis. The origins of aminoacylation of tRNA and peptide bond formation on the ribosome, fundamental reactions in all living organisms, are closely related to the vital meaning of life.
