Millions of renters face a brutal truth this summer: their apartments might not be cool enough to keep them safe. This puts low-income households and communities of color at a disadvantage, exposing them to higher risks of heat-related health issues. The disparity creates a critical gap in ensuring safe and healthy living conditions for all renters. Thankfully, the Inflation Reduction Act offers a potential path forward by investing in clean energy solutions and improving home energy efficiency. That is why rolling out the IRA’s home energy rebate programs (HOME & HEAR) in states with renters awareness priority is imperative. Kudos to New York for taking the lead.
