I wonder what would happen if— and hear me out on this one— if these major companies allocated just a quarter of the resources and energy they devote to mergers and acquisitions toward developing original TV concepts and movies? Could Hollywood have already rebounded from the significant financial setbacks it faced due to the pandemic and strikes? What if investing less in existing intellectual property and more in creativity led to breakout successes? Could this transform Hollywood's reputation and, in turn, prove more profitable? I understand the concept of market consolidation and the significance of strong leadership. I also understand the allure of the high-stakes games played by Wall Street. However, I don't understand the logic in the perceived lower risk in pursuing mergers and acquisitions, which often lead to debt and layoffs, over scaling more original/creative project ideas. It often seems as though these executives and CEOs derive more enjoyment from discussions about building monopolies than they do from fostering creativity and storytelling.

Le pire trailer de blockbuster... Notre oeil est habitué à l'uniformisation extrême de ces séquences. Pourtant elles n'ont rien de naturel, elles obéissent à une cadence de montage particulière, assez rapide, qui permet une brève exposition du scénario, tout en sélectionnant des scènes vendeuses (https://lnkd.in/eVUCTH7K ). La musique est souvent un remix d'une mélodie familière faite pour coller rythmiquement à un crescendo émotionnel (deux violonistes ironisent ici : https://lnkd.in/erJaJPci ). Pourquoi changer les recettes peu risquées qui amènent les gens en salle ? Quand j'ai vu le trailer de Megalopolis (https://lnkd.in/eGDtuNyV), j'ai été interloqué par le refus de jouer ce jeu. Une musique peu présente, un plan unique, des effets spéciaux peu impressionnants, une vraie histoire. J'en ai marre de l'uniformisation des films à gros budget et m'ennuie souvent en voyant un copier-coller d'un voyage du héros de plus en plus superficiel. Peut-être un des pires trailers de l'histoire, mais il m'a donné une furieuse envie de voir le film.

Here are the scores on the doors as we entered the weekend. Barbie streams (😎) ahead, with 4.1m Oppenheimer on 2.6 but with a similar share of on-platform viewing - i.e. share of current subscribers. Two important metrics to track over the coming weeks: 1 - Total views, both Barbie and Oppenheimer will see a boost in viewing due to Oscars publicity - but how much of a lead will the Best Picture (and 6 other awards) grant for Oppenheimer compared to an effective snub, only the Best Original Song win for Barbie. 2 - With Disney timing a range of discounts and offers across the globe, to tie in with Poor Things core streaming window, how many of these big budget titles will become the "first watched" show, i.e. how many subscribers will be drawn into a sub specifically because of these movies.
