Everyone needs to get to Wegmans level on branding. They announced Wegmans was coming to NC on Monday and not sure if that’s more relevant or sports gambling. May go with Wegmans. Ha. Point being, they won’t be open for probably 2 years and people already have their shopping lists ready and day they’ll pitch their tent outside to be the first customer. That’s customer loyalty. That’s treating your customer right. That’s ensuring repeat business. That’s getting people who’ve never been to Wegmans excited about something they know nothing about. Heard someone who is from Florida (where Publix is the go-to) say they were excited about going to Wegmans because it’s better than Publix. 😬 Be like Wegmans. #branding #customerloyalty

Absolutely thrilled to see Lidl's latest innovation! A few years ago, my handyman mentioned that Parkside tools were his go-to for daily tasks. Since then, I've observed how Lidl's assortment has evolved. From electric corded drills to portable rechargeable versions and even tools running on compressed air, Lidl has expanded its offerings to meet diverse needs. Plus, they provide a comprehensive range of consumables—drill bits, saw blades, chargers, and refills. Lidl's customer-centric approach also stands out. You can buy bravely, because they make it very easy to return items that aren’t suitable. Many times, I've walked into the store for a few groceries and come out with a socket set or a chainsaw. Their clever rotation of assortment ensures the right items are available when customers need them for their homes, gardens, and cars, efficiently managing limited display space and inventory. However, one challenge with this approach was the occasional need for a tool or accessory not in the current assortment. Lidl has brilliantly addressed this by opening a concept store at the Premier Outlet near Biatorbágy, exclusively stocking Parkside items. Trading alongside premium brands like Tommy Hilfiger, Nike, and Lacoste, this store is already drawing significant attention. Judging by the long queue of workmen and families waiting in nearly 40-degree heat, it’s clear this concept store is a hit and likely the first of many. Boots UK are the latest to open a new concept in Battersea Power Station, naturally a shopping destination close to our heart and it's great to see their new Boots Beauty being trialled there. There are also a lot of new services- from their Beauty Bar to Masterclasses, professional damaged or thinning har specialists, styling demonstrations by Dyson, a Fragrance Discovery bar and product recycling station. Then we see John Lewis & Partners are trialling a pre-loved fashion pop-up in there Sloane Square store, and HMV on Oxford Street is back open after a four-year close. It's a truly iconic destination and main home for the brand so it's great to see it open again. A Christmas Shopping diversion from the department stores into this space will certainly energise us! The list of retailers experimenting on concept sizes and adding services in-store, we think, is becoming more and more apparent. No one stands still in retail, and particularly not the consumers.
