What a ride! (About my non-stop, 29 years-long epoch and adventure with Novartis) [Part 3 of 3] ----- Just for fun, I wanted to leave you with some of my most relevant Novartis-related "stats", spanning the last three decades: - 29 years working for the group of companies under the "Novartis" umbrella, starting in June 1995, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. - 5 different companies/legal entities that employed me: Ciba Geigy, Novartis Argentina, Novartis Pharma AG, Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, and Novartis Services (for Strategy & Growth). - 4 major functions where I worked: Development (Medical Affairs), Commercial (Sales and Marketing), Research, and lately, in the new "Strategy and Growth" Unit. - 3 (The power of three!) very different cultures where I lived and worked: Argentina (Where I was born and raised, which brought us Messi and the 2022 FIFA World Cup, our third), Switzerland (My beloved Basel, where part of my relatives lived a long time ago), and the US (Boston, Massachusetts), where I found my current "home" about 20 years ago. - Countless: It's the most important number of all. My "small world", which includes countless friends (of all sorts) and acquaintances as part of my "social/human network". Because of its sheer size, no bragging here, this message will probably not reach some of my contacts. I you become aware of someone that knows me, but didn't receive this message, I ask that you kindly forward it to them. As for next steps, I'm planning to take a couple of months off, before looking for my next job, to enjoy life without professional "structure", and to reflect, recharge and refocus my near-term future. I expect to transition to a new job within my area of expertise. But I'll also be focusing on preparing the launch of my first two startups, hopefully before the end of this year (Not directly related to the pharmaceutical industry). I'll keep you posted. 4. 🧵 My Role as the User Engagement Lead was the most out-facing Role as it required me to: 1. Be at the forefront of understanding user pain points using user-friendly surveys and quizzes to understand user behaviour. Respond to the challenges and difficulties users may have with using the product while ensuring this is fixed in a timely yet customer-friendly way, both from the clinical and product development end. 2. Through #AkomaCircles and much more, I was tasked with creating and executing campaign strategies that key closely with the company vision, such as a. The Impact of “Japa”(Leaving one home country for better economic opportunities in another country) on Mental well-being, b. Financial Well-being, c. Overcoming Work-related Stress and Burnout, d. Mums Matter Too, e. International Men's Day, f. Living with a Chronic Condition and the Impact on Mental Health, g. Sex, Modern Relationships and the Impact on Mental Health etc. I am forever grateful that the following thought leaders and organisations indulged me. My greatest lesson is that collaboration is vital for growth and ensures the other party has something to benefit from each collaboration. The importance of follow-ups cannot be over-emphasised. Finally, Always set the objectives and monitor metrics before and after a campaign.

My first 100 days at Almirall- It is good to reflect on the importance of the first 100 days in a new job and/or in a new company, not only because it allows you to leave the past behind but also to learn as much as you can about the new job. Personally, it means I am back to my hometown, so the change has been big personally and professionally 🌟 I’ve just accomplished this milestone at Almirall and I would like to share some thoughts: 👇 👉 First days is about listening and asking the right questions, meet lots of people and go through the on-boarding plan. I am very thankful to the many people who supported me on this journey and I gave even more value to the face to face interactions, you learn much more about the person! 👉 Company culture is a very ethereal concept, culture is what people think and says about the company, at Almirall I learn about the cultural transformation that the company is going through, and it is real, you feel it in everyone I meet.  👉 For someone like me with an international passion it is a privilege to work in an international Head quarter in Barcelona, and keep the interactions with different markets and people to run the commercial strategy.  👉 It is incredible to see how much knowledge there is in each corner, passion and dedication. Master Oogway don't believe in accidents, I watched this scene a couple of days ago and made me rewind about this Situation: 1) Chile, September 24th 2021 it was My Birthday party and suddenly I got this call from Argentina, I though it was about the travel Insurance I got the day before. Suprise! It was a very nice woman from Bayer's acquisition Team. 2) She invited me to an Interview on September 27th. I would be landing on Europe for vacations that day. Off course I said Yes. I'll figure it out how, but I'd be "there". (Pandemic times, online mettings). Europe was love at the first sight for me and my wife. 3) The Interview was perfect, and after 2 months I'd taking a new role in Bayer Chile, a fixed-term contract with option to be extended one more. That is precisely what happened. 4) In the middle of 2023, my former manager and I we're waiting for the approval regarding to the creation of this position in Chile. As we know, there is nothing sure in life but dead. 5) In the middle of the uncertainty, I saw a role description in our internal Job portal and though, Ok, It seems like something I'm qualified and capable to do but it's in Germany! Nevertheless, I decided to apply and try some Luck. 6) In two weeks, I had two interviews and the good news. I was selected for this Job in Germany. What a Suprise! 7) After a few days we got news in Chile, the position in Chile would come to an end, as it was meant to be on November 22th 2023. The starting day on my new and current role was November 15th 2023. Endings are more likely to be like those written by the Grimm Brüder😅, but sometimes they can also be like those modified by Disney to turn them into happy Endings 🤭

OLYMPIC EMPLOYEE Two weeks ago I was in Paris, working at the Sanofi offices in Gentilly and La Maison, connecting with new colleagues and reconnecting with old friends. A good opportunity to align Sanofi’s purpose in each team, even more important in the midle of the constant transformations we are experiencing. But beyond the message that all of us who work in this company can read every day on Yamer, on Teams or by mail, what I take from this business trip when I was on the side of the OLYMPIC TORCH, is that, like an Olympic athlete, each of us can face the daily activity as a competition to the us, by stretching ourselves, for example: - Risk taking on new challenges outside our comfort zone (although sometimes we feel that we are not too young to do it or we consider that we do not have 100% the capacity to do it), - Do not be afraid to think if our future in the company is at risk as a result of transformations (the best insurance within the uncertainty in any company will always be to give the best of oneself), - Engage directly with the teams around us not only to develop our networking but also to know what we can contribute to (do we know what is the priority of our colleague from another area?). Returning to the corporate messages we read daily, “Chasing the miracles of Science to improve People’s live,” this is possible if each of us faces the day to day as an Olympic athlete who competes to win. Why don't each of us see ourselves as an OLYMPIC EMPLOYEE? How many medals do we want to win to achieve Sanofi's purpose?

Embracing Challenges: Paving a New Path As a pharmacist with a passion for the healthcare field, I always sought to deepen my knowledge and expertise. That drive led me from the comfort of my homeland, Lebanon, to the bustling streets of Milan, Italy. Choosing to pursue a master's degree in Safety Assessment of Xenobiotics and Biotechnological Products was a challenging decision, but it was a strategic step forward in my career trajectory. Moving abroad wasn't without its challenges. The distance from my tight-knit family, adapting to a new culture, and navigating the complexities of living in a bustling city like Milan presented hurdles along the way. However, with each obstacle, I discovered my resilience and strength. Milan, renowned for its academic excellence and cultural richness, became the next chapter in my academic journey. Despite the struggles, I embraced every moment, finding solace in the beauty of Milan's architecture and the warmth of its people. Studying in such a diverse and vibrant environment has broadened my perspective and enriched my academic experience. As I approach the culmination of my degree, I reflect on the journey that brought me here. Milan has been more than a city—it's been a crucible of growth and transformation. I am grateful for the challenges, for they have shaped me into the resilient and determined individual I am today. Looking ahead, I am excited to apply my newfound knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact in the field of healthcare. Country positioning and competitive advantage: I recently went to Mumbai, India, for medical treatment. I am still in awe of how India has positioned herself in the medical tourism space (amongst other areas). Patients travel from all four corners of the world for medical treatment in India. The facilities are well-equipped; with professional medical staff and the service is amazing. Well done India! This reminded me of when I was part of the Brand Botswana development team years ago and we were tasked by the highest office in the land to research and develop a brand for Botswana. The research sought to understand perceptions across the world about Botswana, what we are known for, our competitive advantage, opportunities, challenges and risks. The research revealed valuable information (one that warmed my heart was that we are known for good conservation. How true! Our pristine tourism products are nature at its best!) Amongst the opportunities recommended were that we could establish ourselves as a recuperation and rehabilitation hub. When people have undergone major surgeries, treatments, etc. they would come to Botswana for recuperation 🙌🏾. What a peaceful country Botswana is to offer that! With good customer service training, all critical foundations and controls in place, we could offer this to the world! My experience in India reminded me of this opportunity.
