Good morning Everyone!! 🌞 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐲 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫: 𝐀 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 🤩 As I pause to look back at my first semester, I'm filled with a mix of emotions - excitement, challenges, and invaluable learnings. Embarking on my web development journey, I dove into the world of HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, and JavaScript, fueled by the resources from APNA COLLEGE Delta 1.0 program. The thrill of learning something new every day was exhilarating! Alongside, I expanded my horizons by exploring Java, Git, GitHub, Python, and C, balancing them with college commitments. However, the real test came with the struggle between academic exams and my passion for development. This led to a slight downfall in my academic journey, creating backlogs , but also teaching me the essence of time management and prioritization. Participating in a hackathon (DPBH) was a highlight, where despite not winning, the experience enriched my frontend skills and taught me the value of teamwork and perseverance. It was a reminder that every setback is a setup for a comeback. One of my biggest realizations was underestimating the importance of my CGPA in the zeal to acquire new skills. It's a delicate balance, one that I'm learning to manage better. Here's to all the freshmen out there - it's okay to stumble as long as you're ready to rise, learn from your experiences, and move forward with newfound wisdom. Embrace every part of your journey, the triumphs and the lessons, for they shape you into a more resilient and versatile individual. As I step into the next semester, I'm armed with more than just technical skills; I carry the lessons of balance, perseverance, and the continuous pursuit of growth. Y’all heard about the Diverse Talent Tech Program (DTTP)? If you haven’t yet I’ll help you out; but before we begin, I just want to say I’m very grateful to have been successfully granted a 10k scholarship to participate in the DTTP Black 2023 Web development program. There are some gems in life that God brings across your path and this program created by the World Innovation League (WIL) is one of those gems for me. In simple terms, the DTTP 2023 Web development cohort is a comprehensive program (like a “boot camp” ) that aids in transitioning into tech roles. It consists of Skill Training {by SkillHat}  – Mentorship {by Atila} – Hackathon – Work Experience – Community Support. It still feels a bit surreal as to how fast everything happened but I’m 1 month into the Web dev skill training and I’ll give a quick review of my experience so far. I’m extremely impressed by the whole program; It’s very well thought out and organized. We have been taught HTML, CSS and the fundamentals of JavaScript; Thanks to an excellent instructor Edward Apostol. The weekly lectures remind me of undergrad days but a lot more exciting. Looking forward to the mentorship sessions by Atila and the hackathon coming up very soon. I would highly recommend this program to anyone willing to make a career change into tech-related roles soon. Tech Educators | Week 1 | ✔ My first week on Tech Educators Full-Stack MERN bootcamp is done and what an exciting whirlwind it was! Here's what we covered: - HTML & CSS. I started self-teaching myself with online resources a couple of months before the course started so it was great to go over some fundamentals and get in some more practice. - JavaScript. I had a small amount of exposure to JavaScript before starting so it felt great to dive a little deeper. We covered off quite a bit but my main takeaways were conditionals and event listeners which is what I was waiting to learn to take my practice projects up a step. - Version control using Git & Github. I'm so glad I finally know how to use this! I tried and tried to configure it in my self-teaching to no avail, however the learning materials, step by step guidance and support on how to use this tool were amazing and I can now get my projects online, backedup and ready to share! Just need to learn how to make pull requests now so I can work across two machines. (I think that's what I have to do?) - Using the terminal/command line. A method of navigating through your computer that once perplexed me now makes sense and I'm looking forward to learning what else I can do with it. What's more is that a feel like a wizard. 🧙♂️ It's been amazing and inspiring getting to know my peers and learning about their diverse range of backgrounds and expirence as we all take this transitional leap together. There's also a table football table and I might be ever so slightly obsessed. I can't lie, if I'm not at least half as good as I am now at table football come next February, I'll be a little disapointed.
