ChatGPT is definitely pretty impressive, no doubt. However, it's far from ready to take over the world. I was curious if it could handle a slightly advanced type of integral and I'm sad to say it made a really awful mistake that I would have given little to no credit for if I saw on a test.

It's hard to believe it's been just over 2 months since I started my first full time data science position. Transitioning was definitely not easy, but it has been a great experience. For all those out there either thinking about transitioning or trying to do so , a few thoughts. 1. The job search process is not fun, I know, especially with the way the market is right now, but just remember it just takes one yes. Learn something from every interview, whether it leads to an offer or not. Don't freak out because you didn't get every question completely right. 2. If you're transitioning, and you're starting that first job, be prepared for the realization of how much you still have left to learn. It can feel overwhelming, but hopefully you have the support you need from managers and colleagues. 3. The flip side to #2 is how cool it is to keep learning and grow. I am still learning a lot, and that is exciting. As overwhelming as it can feel, embrace it and it becomes fun. 4. If you're feeling unsure if you can make the transition, don't be unsure. If you are willing to make the effort, you can do it.

Happy #socialsaturday everyone. Figured it was time for me to step outside my comfort zone a bit and join this great trend. One of my favorite parts is seeing various people's stories. So many different ones out there and I'd love to see yours. I'll open up a bit with mine. I spent nearly 20 years in academia teaching various levels of college mathematics. Most of that time was at a small liberal arts college. Unfortunately the economy and shifting demographics were already making it difficult and covid proved to be too much, so they made a tough decision and eliminated several positions including mine. After taking a fair bit of time just to absorb it and do some self reflection, I made the decision to transition to a new career in #datascience. It was scary but exciting and I went through the data science career track at Springboard . I really loved it and now I'm trying to find my path into a full time data science career. I am inspired by all the stories I see of people who successfully pull off the career transition. I would love to hear the story of others and I'm #opentoconnect

I often see various signs out on people's yards when I'm out driving, and mostly ignore them. But today I saw one house with two signs. One said "Never give up", the other was "One day at a time" and these hit home to me. I've been doing a #careerpivot into #datascience and the #jobsearch has been stressful and difficult, but those signs got me to think about just to keep at it, not give up, and not get overwhelmed, but rather just take it at as it goes.

I'm so happy to say that I have completed the Data Science Career Track at Springboard. It's been quite a journey and a big change from what I was doing before, but I'm excited to see where it takes me next. I would not have managed this journey nearly as well without the help of my mentor Ajith Patnaik who helped me tremendously with my capstone projects. I encourage anyone who thinks they want to look for something new in their life to do to go for it. I can't wait to see how my future unfolds. #datascience #change
