Today I want to wish a very happy anniversary to Microsoft. Would you believe it's been 49 years since Bill Gates and Paul Allen kicked off this epic journey in a garage? Back in '75, these two young guns had a vision: To revolutionise the world of computing. With just a dream and some serious coding chops, they founded Microsoft in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fun fact: it all started with BASIC programming for the MITS Altair 8800. Talk about humble beginnings. Fast forward to today, and Microsoft is the OG powerhouse of tech. From Windows to Xbox, they've woven their way into the fabric of our digital lives. I bet you can’t think of an adult that doesn’t use Microsoft in some way. You recognise the face. Here's what you didn't know about the 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆. Microsoft only did $16K in 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 in its first year. Bill Gates was a Harvard uni student with an obsession with the future of personal computing. He co-founded Microsoft with close friend Paul Allen in 1975. They bonded and became known over 24-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 coding sessions to ship their first product. This was a programming language designed for specifically for MITS' 1st personal computer. MITS became their 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿, and agreed a partnership to distribute and market Microsoft's software in combination with its computers. The pivotal moment came 5 years later. 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 (𝗜𝗕𝗠). This reference customer was huge for the brand and for attracting other big computer hardware contracts. Gates won by 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲 (𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀), starting upstream and supplying the right tools to create the market. This ushered in an era of dominance. Just completed solving 65 problems of Striver's A2Z DSA sheet consisting of 455 questions. This is not a consistency post, i just solved problems whenever i felt like i should do it. I just ensured that the gaps i took weren't long enough and i do not stop solving problems. I really hope that soon peace will be restored on earth and people will again be able to freely communicate with each other, regardless of their nationality. Personally, I don’t like it when some IT giant starts kicking a small company just because, for some reason, he doesn’t like the country in which it is located.
