A mentor is good, but an executive sponsor is killer. An executive sponsor can: ➡️ advocate for you when you’re not in the room. ➡️ tap you for special projects ➡️ make introductions with your best interest at heart. When you find someone who does the above AND mentors you along the way? You hold them close and never let go. — Samantha McKenna - happy birthday to someone I deeply admire. You didn’t have to take a chance on my 5 years ago when I was just an overeager sales nerd who loved commenting on #samsales content. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t used something you’ve taught me.
game changer
David, Nice post. I always felt that was part of my job as a supervisor/team leader. To be a mentor as well as an advocate, then finding special projects and making introductions for my team. I was able to introduce and assign them them to activities and people in areas they were particularly interested and talented in. The best part?? As my team members found successes, it made me look better in the eyes of my superiors. Something for folks to think about in their career: look for bosses/supervisors that have their best interests at heart. A win/win situation.
This post and your video text today made my day!! Adore you to the moon and back, David! 🥹🥹
