I have enjoyed putting together a content series this month that I am calling Keep an "I" on Innovation! Each week I have shared a post with our teams about how to connect Innovation to their daily work, focusing on a new "I" term each time! Through stories, insights and strategies, we have explored how to grow our Innovation mindsets! One highlight was sitting down with our CEO for a conversation about all things Innovation at Big Ideas Learning! What is an "I" term that you connect to Innovation? I will go first: "Inquisitive", because it reminds me to be curious and ask intentional questions! #Innovation #Innovationstrategy #InnovationLeadership

💥 "From Experimentation to Breakthrough: The Innovation Journey" What separates the ordinary from the extraordinary? The courage to experiment. Behind every groundbreaking innovation is a series of "what ifs" that dared to be explored. I'm talking about those game-changing ideas that redefine industries. This week we discussed a lot about multi modality. As it doesn’t seem to be obvious platform use cases right from the beginning, I have the feeling we are into something here 😉 What’s your approach to fast experiments these days? When do you keep it internal and when are you ready to go out to customers? Let's dive into how fostering a culture of experimentation leads to those awe-inspiring breakthroughs. #InnovationJourney #BreakthroughIdeas #AIExperimentation

💥Real Innovation for industrial Companies: On a targeted and effective path to innovations and market success.
Should every "implementation of creative ideas that have value" [Vaughan Broderick 🦆🌳] be considered an innovation? Maybe not. Here's why ... - Crafting a fancy wedding 🎂cake certainly has great value. Is it innovation? - A great (or not so great) piece of 🖼️art. Is it innovation? - Shipping B2B machine tools in more lovely 🎨colors. Is it innovation? On a personal level, it won't hurt to call those examples innovation. In an organizational context, this might be more confusing than helpful. Every organization must find their own definition of innovation: For some, innovation is only, what the world has not seen before in any industry. Other organizations are more humble and already feel very innovative if they achieve what other industries have achieved decades ago. Knowing what we really talk about is key in getting everyone on the same page on a task as complex and as risky as innovation. That's my 2cents :-) Handing back to Vaughan Broderick 🦆🌳, Nick Himowicz, Lucy Patterson, Benoit Tremblay Cormier, Dr. Nadya Zhexembayeva, J.D. I have a lot of conversations about how academia and industry differ, but there is something that I view as a huge equalizer between both industries: Experimentation. Regardless of the sector in which it is conducted, experimentation, if done correctly, is not only deeply scientific but can also be one of the best ways to make fast, data-driven business decisions. By taking a few "scientific" skills and methodologies, such as crafting a clear hypothesis, defining success and failure metrics, and removing unnecessary variables, businesses of all sizes can foster innovation and informed decision-making. Embrace the process of testing and iteration—it's the pathway to meaningful progress in any business endeavor. #Experimentation #Innovation #BusinessGrowth

In the Challenge-led Innovation approach ‘Challenges’ are coherent fields of action and innovation that could create momentum towards your Directional Goal. They require many actors and stakeholders to innovate and learn in relationship with each other – in essence, an ‘innovation ecosystem’ focused on a particular field of action. When we start to think about a Directional Goal and the multiples of possible Challenges we could work towards, we start by considering who else in the ecosystem is contributing to this work and what can WE contribute given our capacities, constraints and contexts. We use a range of questions to catalyse imagination and creativity, here are some: · What might be aligned towards our goal? · What might be ambitious but achievable in a diversity of ways? · What might be specific enough to generate inspiration and focus? · What might be systemic in nature – not solvable by one technology or actor or sector? · Where do we have capacity to influence? · What networks can we engage for co-creation? We’ve created a ‘Challenge Ikigai’ Canvas including these questions and others in our Challenge-led Innovation Workbook (p32) [https://lnkd.in/gnQSikFx] ------------------------------------------- Challenge-led Innovation is an approach that seeks to accelerate innovation towards addressing complex challenges affecting people and places or that are associated with planetary crises. > To download the PDF enlarge the image to full screen and find the download icon (usually in the top right) #challengeledinnovation #missionled #systemsinnovation #innovationecosystem Ingrid Burkett Joanne McNeill

If you are interested in applying systems approaches (in your companies, projects or multi-lateral initiatives) to navigate your organisational change towards sustainable futures, I recommend you follow the work of the Griffith Centre for Systems Innovation in Australia. There are three things I find impressive in their work (and that I'm trying to apply also in our Chaire COAST | Montpellier Business School research, teaching and societal engagement): 1. Strongly grounded in place, but generalisable. The systems tools they share (in terms of language and paradigms) stem from the local wisdom of engaging with actors and communities. However, with slight adaptation and appropriate facilitation, Griffith's tools are also very helpful in a variety of other sectoral and cultural contexts, in my experience. 2. Aware of systems theory, but designed for practitioners. I know plenty of consultants, brokers and applied researchers that either design systems tools for practitioners without taking the time to immerse into theory; and researchers that understand systems theories but do not dare to design for societal actors (and, alas, they achieve limited engagement or, perhaps worse, generate a subtle confusion and aversion for systems thinking in their audience). The Griffith's tools I've applied so far, instead, they are very grounded on theory *and* meant to convey energy for action. 3. Focused on action, but taking the time for communication. The visuals shared by Griffith Center are just beautiful and self-explanatory, in my view. That immensely helps to make their tools travel across sectors and continents. I'm surprised of how they manage to combine the time to developing and applying these tools in the field with the time to codify their wisdom, making their knowledge explicit, and translating it into impactful visuals. 👉 If you seek for a good balance between embracing systems approaches without getting lost in its jargon, then the tools that this Griffith Center proposes are incredibly helpful. P.S. I had no chance to meet in person with the Griffith Center yet, nor I have any work relationship with them - my reflections just stem from observing their tools as a follower of their page. #systemsthinking #systems #mapping #systemschange
