I often refer to successful brands as Living Brands. But what exactly is a Living Brand? It's the idea that brands are like living organisms, with their own personality, voice, and purpose. It’s about creating an ongoing narrative that extends beyond goods and services. Living brands tell a story that resonates with their consumers on an emotional level. They build a relationship that sustains repeat business over time. Why does this matter? Simply put, emotions drive decisions. If people feel nothing for your brand, they'll choose whoever offers them the lowest price. If people associate positive emotions with your brand, they’ll choose you each time. 1. Focus on creating value instead of revenue growth. _High saturation in intangible qualities enriches a product or experience with value and symbolism. THIS is what justifies the high price tags. Otherwise, it’s just premium. Speak to the consumer’s emotional side through well-developed narratives and storytelling that align with their values. In doing so, the revenue will follow. 2. Know that luxury consumers are changing their aspirations. _People are less and less aspiring towards social status; instead, they seek personal meaning to enhance their quality of life. Brands must understand that consumers want to improve their identity rather than buying into a brand-created idealistic persona. 3. Connect brand purpose with consumer’s search for meaning. _Brand purpose often needs to be lived out and often resorts to credential loss. A common example of this is greenwashing. A brand’s purpose does not indicate its success and generating real value. It’s actually in its meaning. The purpose is internally facing for brands, whereas the meaning is external. Realize that people care about their own why, not the brands. Make people the hero’s, NOT the brand. #consumerfacing Food for thought 💭
