Tirelessly evangelizing and acting towards the adoption of in silico methods and the digitalization of healthcare, sport and environment.
This Saturday will be the Time Trial (TT) race in Paris. Many athletes who have just finished the Tour de France, as well as the best time trialists in the world, will be competing for the ultimate title. While most of the performances come from the athletes, a deep understanding of complex aerodynamics and equipment modifications can make a huge difference. https://lnkd.in/e5kpsvdh I have the fantastic opportunity to work closely with the Equipe Groupama FDJ which uses simulation to reduce the drag induced by the helmet, handlebars, rider position and of course the bike. As Fred GRAPPE, PhD Head of Performance and Innovation at Equipe Groupama FDJ, mentions, 90% of the resistance that the time trialists will face in Paris comes from the wind. Some bikes used during the individual time trial were largely designed using computer modeling and simulations (Victor SIMONIN) while listening carefully to the athletes' feedbacks. The computer models were intensively validated in the wind tunnel. But in the end, it is the athlete on his/her bike who will say if (s)he has good feelings. Computer models do a lot; but do not completely replace human feeling! Good Luck to the athletes and, to all, enjoy the show, just like me, we are looking for an intense and suspenseful race. About the picture: a previous version of the bike. Watch the race to appreciate the latest one.

Watch this interesting video (link: https://lnkd.in/exftrXnX) to see how Formula 1 cars have changed and improved over the years. The video explains how the special parts installed, help the cars go faster and use less fuel. They also talk about hybrid power units, which are super smart engines that make the cars more eco-friendly. It's not just about going fast; it's like a mix of science and art to make the cars better on the racetrack. Among the myriad innovations showcased in the video, my personal favourite is the evolution of aerodynamics in Formula 1 cars. I find it really amazing how they've made the cars more streamlined and efficient in the air. Witnessing the intricate dance of airfoils, diffusers, and the ever-shifting pursuit of optimal downforce is a testament to the precision and ingenuity of F1 engineering. The way these advancements enhance performance, grip, and overall aerodynamic efficiency is truly mesmerising. From what I saw, F1 cars have become a lot more than just speed machines. They're like high-tech marvels, pushing the limits of what's possible in racing. This video takes you into the world of motorsport innovation, showing how each lap is a journey of excellence in speed, efficiency, and cutting-edge technology. It's pretty cool to see how much they've changed and how smart these cars have become! 🚗✨ #F1Innovation #MotorsportEvolution #AeroExcellence

Shamir will continue as BWT Alpine F1® Team’s Optical Performance Partner to continue to gather useful data, but mostly because we love the challenge! Only Formula 1 demands so much precision from the vision performance of its participants, cramming so much information into their eyes so quickly, forcing their brains to operate at incomprehensible processing speeds. And to us, that sounds like the perfect challenge for an optical performance company. No other sport requires participants to find and focus on a gaze point, then switch to a new gaze point, so quickly, over and over again, while operating at an elevated heart rate and under severe physical effort in all weather and light conditions. Wherever there is a optical challenge like this, Shamir will be there - and we will then develop our solutions that will benefit anybody who needs corrective lenses. #Shamir #Alpine #Alpine #DriverIntelligence

Custom-developed Shamir equipment already protects BWT Alpine F1® Team members from hazards as diverse as loose debris and lasers. Besides corrective lenses for all the Alpine personnel who needed them, Shamir also developed prescription goggles for the pit crew members and safety lenses for aerodynamicists in the wind-tunnel. For Alpine, performance and safety on the track needs performance and safety off the track, too. And Shamir applied the same performance-and-safety philosophy to Drive Intelligence lenses, helping non-F1 drivers get the best out of every drive, while enhancing their safety. That’s just one of the reasons why Shamir will continue as BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Optical Performance Partner in Formula 1. Alpine #Shamir #armthelasers #Alpine #Alpine #DriverIntelligence
