What have you learned since you started your position???? We are celebrating everything February at Digital Edge today. We are celebrating our people, our work, our business and all those that engage with Digital Edge. The theme of the day has been 2 pronged. 1. Not settling for second best. it isn't about being 1st, it's about asking how we can be better. 2. Perspective. It is important to know how far we have come so that we can understand how far we can go. An amazing team session where I asked each of the team the question... What has been the biggest lesson you have learned since you started your position here at DE? Here are my teams answers and I LOVE it! - I can learn anything - The power of TEAM - I am more capable than I thought - I can talk to people and be listened to - I didn't think I was as adaptable - I didn't think I would be able to build the size of the systems I am now. - I am only ever a second or decision away from a change. I'm a second away from being anything and doing anything. WOW! Like, WOW! Incredible realisations. I am officially blown away by my teams reaction to this question. There was no huffing and puffing, no uncertainty and everyone answered with real conviction. What have YOU learned since you started YOUR position? GO!!!! Have a great weekend😘

Happy Monday! 2 certificates in one delivery… 👩🏻💼Firstly, thank you to Jacqui Wordsworth and the brilliant Women into Construction CIC team for allowing us to be a part of this incredible journey in supporting such a worthy programme across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. 🚀 In addition, yesterday marked my 5-year anniversary at Mitie. In 5 years, I've navigated through several different roles and worn a multitude of hats. Reflecting on these past 5 years, here’s a few of the lessons I’ve learned: 🤝You don’t need X number of year’s experience to land a job in a different industry. 😔😊If you’re not happy at work, find another job, I promise you it isn’t as scary as you might think! 👥Company Culture is absolutely critical to a positive mindset and feeling of belonging. Thank you Mitie Property Services UK Ltd ❤️ When you work with people who make each day a joy, the days pass quickly. Contrary to the common belief that friendships and business don't mix, I've found that having genuine connections at work is essential. Building a strong support network within and outside of the workplace is crucial for navigating both the highs and lows. These connections provide the necessary support during challenging times and contribute to a positive work environment. 💡Embrace Growth Beyond Your Comfort Zone: Stepping outside of our comfort zones can be daunting, but it's where true growth occurs. 💪 Embrace Failure: Failure is never easy to accept, but it is in those moments that the most profound lessons are learned. It's essential to hold ourselves accountable for our failures, but equally important to recognise them as stepping stones towards improvement. 🌟 Thrive through Authenticity: Throughout my career, I've worked in environments where I felt the need to conform and hide my true self. However, at Mitie, I've been fortunate to work in a place that celebrates me. They have empowered me to be my true self, tailoring my work to leverage my strengths, and with support, I've received invaluable coaching and mentorship, enabling me to take ownership of my development. ⬆️ Embracing Ups and Downs: Every journey includes its fair share of ups and downs, and my time at Mitie has been no exception. However, what matters most is how we approach the challenging moments. Here’s to many more years with an incredible team!

Reflections and thoughts on a year bringing a lot of change to my professional life, but most certainly also to personal life. Transitioning from a background in naval architecture to a role within a pharmaceutical engineering company has been an enlightening journey. The initial months were marked by a steep learning curve, as I grappled with unfamiliar concepts, terminology, and processes. Each day presented new challenges, pushing me out of my comfort zone and compelling me to adapt and grow rapidly. However, this learning curve has been incredibly rewarding. I've gained a deeper understanding of the intricate world of pharmaceuticals, appreciating the meticulousness and precision it demands. My skills in problem-solving and attention to detail, honed during my time as a naval architect, have proven invaluable in this new context. It's been gratifying to see how my diverse skill set can be applied in different industries, underscoring the importance of interdisciplinary knowledge. On a personal level, this transition has been a catalyst for positive development. Embracing change, confronting uncertainties, and pushing boundaries have fostered resilience and adaptability in me. I've also had the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals, each bringing their unique perspectives and expertise to the table. These interactions have enriched my professional network and broadened my horizons, reinforcing the value of continuous learning and collaboration. Amidst the challenges and growth, it's been essential to find moments of joy and fulfillment. The camaraderie among colleagues, the satisfaction of overcoming obstacles, and the thrill of contributing to projects with real-world impact have made this journey immensely enjoyable. While the transition was daunting initially, the past year has been a testament to the rewards of embracing change, seizing opportunities, and finding joy in the process. It would be an understatement to say that the descision to join NNE in a for me completely new role has proven to bring so much more than I expected. Looking forward to the coming year with excitement and anticipation. Happy New Year

This year didn’t end on the note I thought it would. I’ve spent the last week reflecting on what I could have done differently in my last role, so I can make improvements & not make the same mistakes moving forward. And while there are plenty of things I could have done differently, there seems to be an underlying theme to all of it: communication. I don’t mean communicating as in emails, meetings, IMs, etc, by communicating, I mean asking tough questions, getting clarification when needed & being proactive when it comes to ideas & strategies. ⭐️ If you’re wondering what the vision of your organization is - ask. ⭐️ If you’re not sure where you fit in or if you’re making the impact you envisioned - get clarification. ⭐️ If you have ideas or strategies to share - don’t wait to be asked to share, be proactive. ⭐️ Don’t be afraid to challenge current processes or ideas. ⭐️ Ask for feedback regularly - don’t put yourself in a position to be taken off guard when it comes to how your job performance is being measured & perceived. ⭐️ Don’t lose confidence in yourself - know that you’re great at what you do & that there’s a reason that you’ve been put in your role. I know what I bring to the table & I know the impact I can make. I’m excited to see what opportunities await me come 2024. Wishing you all a very safe & very Happy New Year!!
