This is eye-opening and disturbing. Given that gender parity has existed at most universities for a generation, and over 40% of all business school enrollees are women, we should not see this level of inequality persist at the CEO level. I have seen examples of male dominated boards and investors mistreating female CEOs in ways I suspect they would not treat male CEOs, and I’m sure I’m not alone. I have seen women not throw themselves into the mix for the top job when they should. There are far fewer women getting VC funding, growth funding and so forth because finance is so heavily male dominated. What else explains such a wide divergence?
