Celebrating Pride and Our LGBTQIA+ Employees! 🌈 This Pride Month, we're celebrating incredible individuals in the LGBTQIA+ community who make Featurespace such a vibrant and innovative place to work. But first, a reminder of why inclusion and advocacy are crucial all year round: · Over 7 million adults in the UK are LGBTQIA+. They are our colleagues, friends, and family. · There’s been a 112% rise in hate crimes on the basis of sexual orientation over the last five years. Hate crimes against transgender individuals are particularly prevalent. · These crimes often involve violence or threats of violence, further highlighting the need for a safe and inclusive environment. · While this year’s slight decrease of 6% is positive, there’s much more work to be done. To better understand the experiences of our LGBTQIA+ employees, we recently hosted a panel discussion for our global team. Here’s what we learned: ✴ Visibility and positive representation matters: It’s important to see yourself reflected in the workplace, including through the use of inclusive language. ✴ Actively listening can help creating a safe space: Being aware of biases can help work towards a more inclusive workplace culture. ✴ Authenticity at work is powerful: It’s crucial to feel comfortable to be yourself at work, without fear of judgment. ✴ Normalise what’s traditionally been seen as different: Create a workplace where LGBTQIA+ lives are seen as ordinary, not ‘other’. In the words of one panellist, ‘make us boring!’ Featurespace is committed to ongoing action: This panel discussion was just one step in our journey towards a truly inclusive workplace. We're dedicated to fostering an environment where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. #PrideMonth #DiversityandInclusion #LGBTQIA+ #BeYouAtWork

During Pride Month, it is crucial to not only recognise but also deeply appreciate the significant contributions of the #LGBTQIA+ community. This is a time to raise awareness of the issues impacting these individuals and to acknowledge the ongoing efforts needed to advance LGBTQIA+ rights. As we celebrate #PrideMonth at GSMA, we want to emphasise our support for the LGBTQIA+ community and our dedication to creating an inclusive workplace. We firmly believe that embracing the diversity of all individuals enriches our workplace and contributes to our collective success. Our commitment is to continue to foster an environment where all employees feel accepted, valued, and empowered. Here are some of the ways we actively support the #LGBTQIA+ community: ✨ Inclusive Policies: We have adopted policies that support LGBTQIA+ employees and foster an inclusive work environment. These policies include our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy, Equal Opportunity Statements, Dignity at Work Policy and Procedure, and Menopause Guidance. We have updated our policies to incorporate gender-inclusive language in line with our ongoing commitment to #inclusivity. Furthermore, we encourage employees to include personal pronouns in their email signatures and e-profiles. ✨ OneGSMA: We have established an employee-led forum, #OneGSMA, which serves as a crucial platform for networking, support, and advocacy. OneGSMA plays a pivotal role in shaping our #diversity, equity and inclusion strategies, organising events, and, most importantly, fostering a strong sense of community within our organisation. It is through such initiatives that we truly embody our commitment to inclusivity. ✨ Training and Education: Education is critical to organising understanding and promoting inclusion. We have implemented programmes addressing LGBTQIA+ issues, such as unconscious bias and inclusive recruitment. In addition, we have published our Inclusive Language Guide and conduct various webinars throughout the year to raise awareness on a wide range of topics. These initiatives enhance our employees' awareness, sensitivity, and empathy. ✨ Pride Month Celebrations: We commemorate Pride Month annually through various activities and events. These include awareness campaigns, guest speakers, panel discussions, and social gatherings. Our goal is to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community and foster a sense of belonging and appreciation within our workplace. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈

Pride Month is a great time for celebration, advocacy, and allyship for our LGBTQIA+ communities, and an opportunity to create inclusive spaces in the work environment. Yet, many companies still don't participate or do the bare minimum. While it's great to see a surge of Pride flags this time of year, true inclusivity goes beyond performative gestures. So, why should companies celebrate Pride Month and their LGBTQIA+ employees year-round? It's not just about social responsibility (although that's important, and should be reason enough!). There are ways businesses can benefit from fostering a truly inclusive environment for LGBTQIA+ employees that make good business sense: 🌈 Boost Employee Engagement and Morale: Feeling valued and respected is key to a happy and productive workforce. Celebrating Pride Month demonstrates a commitment to inclusivity, fostering a more engaged and motivated team environment. 🌈 Attract and Retain Top Talent: The LGBTQIA+ community is a vast and diverse pool of talent. By actively promoting inclusivity, you signal that your company values diverse perspectives and creates a welcoming space. This can be a major draw for top performers. 🌈 Enhance Brand Reputation: Consumers are increasingly conscious of social responsibility and diversity initiatives. Demonstrating a genuine commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion through Pride Month activities can enhance your company's brand reputation and attract a more positive public image. 🌈 Unlock Innovation and Creativity: Diverse teams bring a wider range of experiences and perspectives to the table. By embracing LGBTQIA+ identities, companies can unlock greater innovation and creativity. 🌈 Align with Evolving Social Values: Society's understanding of diversity and inclusion is constantly evolving. By actively engaging with Pride Month and promoting LGBTQIA+ rights, employers demonstrate their commitment to keeping pace with these evolving values and being responsible members of the community. Pride Month is a great time to start the conversation, but let's make inclusivity a year-round practice. What are your thoughts on LGBTQIA+ inclusion in the workplace? "It is not our differences that divide us. It is our inability to recognise, accept, and celebrate those differences." — Audre Lorde “Black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet” is how Audre Lorde described herself. This quote is often cited in discussions about intersectionality, a concept she helped popularise. A family member and some of my close friends identify as LGBTQIA+. So it’s no surprise that it’s a topic I care deeply for. Pride Month is all about inclusivity, acceptance, and celebrating the beautiful diversity of our LGBTQIA+ community. Two ways to create an LGBTQIA+ inclusive workplace: 🌈 Let people choose their own labels Some people find labels like gay, trans, queer or bi really empowering. For others, labels feel painful and oppressive. Let people choose. If someone wants to come out as trans or gay, offer them support. If not, leave people free not to put themselves in boxes. If you use a central employee database or HR software, or a business-wide messaging system, it is best-practice to remove anything that gets in the way of people changing their pronouns or name on their official record. Educate the wider team on why respecting somebody’s chosen name is essential. 🌈 Mind your language Language matters. It can help people feel included, empowered and protected. When language is misused, it can leave people feeling alienated, lost and stigmatised. Create a list of inclusive terms to help your team use the right language.
It is June, and that means it is time to celebrate Pride Month. Pride Month is all about inclusivity, acceptance, and celebrating the beautiful diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Inclusivity in the workplace is not only a sign of a good organisation, but it is also good business. It is well documented, that when employees feel their organisation values diversity and inclusion, they are more likely to be engaged, satisfied, and committed to their work. Research has shown that inclusive workplaces: - Perform 17% better (Deloitte). - Have an 18% higher retention rate (BetterUp). - Improve team performance by up to 30% (Gartner). At Troocoo, we recognise the importance of fostering a truly inclusive workplace. We are committed to creating a better work environment for our internal team, clients, candidates, and contractors. What steps can you take this Pride Month to improve inclusivity across your workplace? #PrideMonth #Inclusion #Diversity #LGBTQIA #WorkplaceEquality
