Enabling organizations to unleash the potential of their people & technology

7 years & counting! It's crazy how time flies when you're having fun, but time certainly has flown by over these last 7 years at Softchoice. As a I reflect on my journey, I wanted to share 7 things I've learned over the years: 1) Treat people the way you want to be treated. As cliché as it sounds, this is incredibly important to fostering positive relationships with your customers, partners & coworkers. 2) Don't try & do it on your own. Given how vast an environment we support, it's impossible to know it all. Between internal & external expertise, we've got a similarly vast network of resources available to help support our customers technology needs. 3) The harder you work, the luckier you seem to get. While work-life balance is key, there will be times when extra hours are needed in the evening or over the weekend. Try not to make a habit of it, but don't shy away from the challenge, as your efforts will be noticed & support ongoing advancement. 4) Make time for ongoing education & development. Whether it's taking a course on an emerging technology, or listening to an audiobook on an afternoon stroll. Continuous education is a difference maker. 5) Seek to understand the roles & functions of your peers & how you can make best support them. It's easy to work in our siloes, but collaboration is key to ensuring successful outcomes. If you know what your peers are working towards & measured on, you can do your part to help. It will come back around. 6) Your customers, partners & coworkers would rather have you over-communicate than under-communicate. Nobody likes to chase down answers, by building a system that allows you to be proactive, you're likely to garner a positive reception & improve the engagement experience for all. 7) Have fun! Over the years I've had the honor of supporting our customers & team members as an inside seller, outside seller & most recently as a leader. Each role comes with its own set of quirks & perks, but at the end of the day, we're spending the majority of our time with our team members & customers. Work to foster longstanding relationships & align with those who have common interests. I'm appreciative of a workplace that has allowed me to grow & rewarded me for my contributions. As many of you know, I love to travel, so I figured I'd share a few photos from my most recent Presidents Club trip & extension. Cheers to the next 7 years!

Softchoice is certainly a better organization because of you Ryan Wilson. You are an amazing person and it's been an honor working alongside you for the last 7 years. In just a short time you have proven yourself already as a great leader and looking forward to many more accolades and accomplishments from you. Certainly the reason for all that success is what you stated above. Keep doing you.. :).
