When I worked at AdRoll we had this Shark Tank-like event once a year. Where everyone could submit an idea (usually just a one-pager) that had to be aligned with one AdRoll's core values. Or help the company make/save more money. And the top 10 would go and present it in front of the Executive Team. If back then we had access to LLMs and AI tools, we would have presented a working prototype of our idea instead of a Google Doc. Making it feel more real and inspiring other employees from different departments to submit their ideas. Now that everyone could potentially be a "Prototype Maker", it would make sense if more companies started to adopt this "Shark Tank-like" approach.

𝐖𝐡𝐨 wants to 𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠? Who wants to 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐥? 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 is where it's at! "What makes you 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭? What's your 𝐔𝐒𝐏?" asks Andy. GULP. I realise I have 𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚! I can reel yours off in an instant, obvs. But after pulling a few faces, it dawns on me that it would be a really 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 exercise. So, I 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤. And walk. And think some more. And the 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 I think about it, the 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 it gets! (Remember the tale of 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐨𝐡 trying to leave Rabbit's den after eating too much honey? That hard!) So, I start with the 𝐨𝐛𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬. Then, shyly drifted into the 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐲. No intention of sharing that stuff! But hey, just 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 spoken aloud to no-one at this stage. And then, I think some more. And a 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 goes on in my bird brain. That 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐲 thing I had no intention of sharing? Is actually 𝐤𝐞𝐲 to me. Quite possibly the biggest 𝐔𝐒𝐏. It's 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠, soon. In a 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨. It won't be glaringly obvious. I'm slipping the whacky bit in towards the end ;) 💡 So now I'm wondering, 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐔𝐒𝐏? 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐲? Are you brave enough to share it? I'm from a tiny village in the south of the UK that nobody has heard of, and have been living in London for about 4 years. Today, my life mainly revolves around my dog. 💼 Role: Global Head of Content 🌟 Career Highlight: I've had quite a few highlights at Grabyo - I've been with the company for 5 years and have been given great opportunities to grow and develop my career. I started as a PR and Comms manager, and now manage content strategy and production for many areas of the business. Each year has been different from the last - life at a start-up is varied and fast-paced and I've enjoyed the ride. If I had to pick one moment - the time I had to try and run alongside very young and athletic cameramen over the alps mountains while trying to shoot a case study - beautiful views, but I almost passed out. 💻 Favourite Grabyo Aspect: My favourite current Grabyo feature is a combination of dynamic transitions, graphic transitions and multi-action key bindings for live production. You can create some great looking scenes and layouts and transition between them with effects using a Streamdeck or hardware device. The output looks very cool, and it appeals to the creative in me - and I've spent a fair amount of time playing with it. 🎨 Hobbies: Oh the pressure to sound interesting. I'm a big sports fan - I have a passing interest in most sports but follow football the closest (Man United fan, please don't judge). I'm also into video gaming - a few of us at Grabyo are known to jump online of an evening and shoot each other in a virtual setting. I also enjoy movies - mainly sci-fi/fantasy - Star Wars, Marvel type-things. I'll never turn down a conversation about those. 🕵️ Interesting Fact: More than around 10 years before joining Grabyo, I met Cesc Fabregas (one of Grabyo's initial investors) in London on a college trip. This is the face (and can we take a moment to question the HAIR) of someone who has been learning on-the-job with a very non-negotiable deadline for a client who is (shall we say) ‘a bit of a big deal. It’s the face of someone who’s husband is in China so all kiddo-related shizzle is mine too. And that kiddo has wanted me to try and cast her iPad screen to the smart TV so she can design a house in Roblox as I’m getting tk the sharp end of submitting work which CANNOT HAVE ERRORS IN IT. And the dishwasher is broken. Yet someone on the team today still referred to me as the team ‘cheerleader.’ I will take that and run with it. I am proud that I have the ability to dig deep, get laser-focused and push the overwhelm to one side and still manage to retain my sense of humour. Because what’s the point in getting shitty with people? That don’t move the needle. And we’re nearly done so it’s all good. Storytime: Hiring Kieren 👨 Back in February 2020, we hired Kieren as a graphic designer through a special program. But when COVID-19 hit and the program got cancelled, Kieren was left without a job. Despite the uncertainty, we decided to keep him on board. This leap of faith led to unexpected opportunities, including discovering Kieren's talent for designing websites.
