Couldn't agree more Daniel. I spoke a lot about this in the hospitality industry and now in the golf business. It's a thread decision makers need to pull around understanding their customers and their needs. Some large companies are now requiring executives and managers to work in customer service for a portion of their time, and I think it's a great idea. When you put a face to the customer, hear their needs first-hand and develop empathy for them, you can better lead your business towards User Centered principles that drive value for the customer, and thus grow the business. If your customers are there to have fun, make your venue more fun! Don't just guess at these changes though. Efficiency and Innovation in Action!! Roller skates......hear us out!!!! Recently, Jimmy enjoyed some well-earned time off. Golfing for a week in the heat with a diverse group of 16 people! With varying skills and preferences, pleasing everyone was no easy task, especially when some were resistant to change. However, one thing everyone agreed on was the need for refreshments after a hot, hard day on the course. What stood out was the ingenious system the waiter used to ensure everyone got what they wanted, exactly when they wanted it: roller skates!
