Almost 3 years ago, I was working for a local Nola developer trying to sell his asset during the challenging time of Covid. After 6 months of hustling to get the asset sold, my client called me to let me know that he was going to list the property with another broker. I was absolutely gutted after how hard I worked, but I put his interests ahead of my own, told him I understood, and that I hoped we could find something to work on together in the future. I hung up the phone thinking that he'd never want to work with me again. Over the years, we caught up every now and then, always exchanging pleasantries. Fast forward to February, and he called me to let me know that him and his partner were in a 1031. I showed him this asset and boom, we had a deal. Getting fired is a humbling experience, and it sucked at the time, but it gave me an opportunity to show this client who I really was. He knew that no matter the situation, I would always put his best interests at the forefront of everything I did. Showing people your true character in challenging situations is what builds true relationships. How you treat people is what they will remember. Congratulations to both my Buyer & Seller (whom I met on LinkedIn) on a smooth transaction!
