Free guide from Center for Cooperative Media, written by jesikah maria ross, edited by Angilee Shah and informed by work done at CapRadio. "Perhaps most importantly, the guide calls on journalists to embrace a new ethic of care that goes beyond traditional notions of objectivity and distance. This means being willing to share power in the editorial process, create spaces for dialogue and problem-solving, and use our platform to meet community needs and build bridges." https://lnkd.in/gb_gdP5F

How do you balance maintenance with innovation? And, perhaps a synergistic mix of the two are optimal? How does investing in maintenance from the launch improve sustainability? Who's responsible for maintenance in your organization? How does that reflect how maintenance is prioritized and resourced? All good questions, with some actionable steps for thinking through answers from Stephen Jefferson in todays American Press Institute newsletter: https://lnkd.in/gxQQUJPa

Great opportunity from Reynolds Journalism Institute for some critical conversation and actionable brainstorming about community journalism. And, since they are covering many of the costs, it should be more accessible to smaller and rural newsrooms. https://lnkd.in/gKzqiPUU

Held off listening to this Search Engine episode when it first dropped and a bunch of people were talking about it, because I didn't have the emotional bandwidth. Finally listened, and I think I need to listen to it again. Lots of good points to digest, including an accessible breakdown of why the past 20ish years of media is now epically failing. This should be mandatory listening for any public media execs, who are still trying to figure out how to navigate web 2.0 and believe that "if you build it, they will come." Having a frequently updated website with some good original content is not enough to transition to digital, let alone survive as a media org. Yet, I don't know if I agree with Ezra Klein about the bright spots, since he seems to think philanthropy is new in news. PJ even invites him to comment on the public media model a couple times and he does not engage. Have you listened? What did you think? https://lnkd.in/gZQmTHZX
