This isn't hyperbole or exaggeration: agencies in our ecosystem still use paper charting systems and verbal handoffs (or write on their gloves). Raise hands ✋🤚 if that's you! AI in Mobile Medicine will let #Fire, #EMS, #CriticalCare, #IFT, #NEMT, and #CommunityParamedicine #MIH agencies to know patients' needs before they arrive on-scene; -- help to identify the optimal destination, especially when the deciding factor is a detail like wall time or traffic that it's almost impossible for a crew to know in advance (which can, of course, massively improve wall times, reduce costs, and reduce burnout); -- know if the patient who has been in a crash has a POLST / MOLST form, a special health need, is a veteran, has an invisible disability; or would benefit from interventions besides transport; -- even leverage #ePCR data to save RESPONDERS' lives (H/T Wayfound Mental Health Group, Dr. Megan McElheran). None of this is theoretical. All of this is NOW. It’s easy to forget that the AI “revolution” is the exciting part of long, messy trudge to automate, digitize, and modernize both data ingestion and output generation. I’m just off a breathless call how genAI will revolutionize health care starting yesterday, and how we need to sprint to get ahead of the risks and opportunities. Meanwhile, during the call, my own health care provider sent me a screening survey starting with the question below. We live in a multi speed world and need not to forget that when thinking of the bleeding edge. (This is not an early dementia screening…it’s a survey designer who wants today’s date listed on everyone’s response, can’t think of a way to get it other than by making it a question, and copied the template used for asking for health events in the past)

I’m late to this episode (it’s from June of this year), although the discussion is still very relevant as it pertains to medicine and AI. I would encourage you to listen (and the run time is a bit misleading; the interview takes up the first 90 minutes or so). My biggest takeaway was discovering likeminded medical professionals already using LLMs that will help people find ways to be involved in their health (instead of solely relying on doctors) before they succumb to (preventable) diseases. It’s by no means a knock on doctors (they are very important and will remain so for the foreseeable future). It’s more a critique on the mindset so many people have that keeps them from engaging with their health until there is an apparent need. I’m excited to see so many developments happening so quickly. My goal is to create my own platform that will help scale behavioral health and contribute to the changing landscape of preventive medicine. #aiadvancement #aiandhealth #medicine3.0 #behavioralhealth #liftoff
