Today we celebrate women in engineering. Some might take time to look into achievements of our pioneers such as Ada Lovelace ‘the first programmer’ born in 1815. As for me, I am a bit saddened to see, in my ‘country of origin’, France, that the % of girls joining engineering schools is hardly increasing, if not decreasing in some areas. My own experience as engineer is one of many opportunities; for each of them I had the impression it was a privilege to contribute to major endeavours, either in telecommunication or in aerospace : - develop a secure banking system in Switzerland, with the aim to avoid systemic collapse - set up a secure communications network for the Police in Belgium, launched after the Heysel football stadium drama - support our helicopters Emergency Medical Services Customers throughout the world - support our Air Forces in their critical missions. I am immensely grateful to Airbus for having given me so many choices in the last 21 years, and for all efforts done, sincerely, for diversity. I also feel lucky to have outstanding ladies by my side, Maria Angeles Marti Martinez Koro Arraiza Ana Maria Martin Gutierrez Paloma Peinado Maria Escribano Febrel Maria Garcia Nuria Vaquero Ana Pereira Brun , just to name a few, what a ride together ! Our society is facing immense challenges, my personal take when facing complexity is that first must come humility, and, right after, diversity. I really encourage young girls to have a harder look into all this when making study and carrer decisions, we need you ! #INWED International Women in Engineering Day #WomeninDefence Airbus Defence and Space

Did you know Women represent less than 28%* of Space, Aerospace, and Defense in California? Within some companies, it falls to 8% 📉 In Senior Leadership it drops below 20%. Just wanted to share some data I found eye-opening this week 📊 Progress is strong though, for example via #WomenInSTEM programs, and a better understanding of removing biases from hiring processes. Is it perfect? No, but progress is progress 📈 Companies will only improve as they get closer to gender parity, so let’s support these efforts! #WomenInSTEM #Diversity #Space #Aerospace #Jobs *Whole industry figures. Engineering & Tech positions are ~12.5-15%

A crucial part of enabling innovation is [not just] making the connections between government and private companies. Its also about serving as the connective tissue that binds them together in a purposeful way. BMNT's H4XLabs team looks at cohort companies technology readiness levels, their supply chain fragility, and their ability to scale product development capabilities, because many of the them are still research oriented companies just beginning the difficult and expensive pathway towards production. Using what we learn about the their circumstances our objective is to support the government to constantly iterate on its approaches to becoming a great customer and partner to these space companies while also helping the companies build better strategies for integrating government funding into their commercial development pathways. I am thrilled and honored to share that on September 5th, I will have the privilege of presenting my Engineering Master thesis titled "Hygrothermal Effects in Aeronautical Composite Materials Subjected to Freeze-Thaw Cycling" at the prestigious AIDAA XXVII International Congress. In this research, I delved into the intricate realm of aeronautical composite materials, exploring their behavior under the demanding conditions of freeze-thaw cycling. This phenomenon, often underestimated, plays a pivotal role in the structural integrity of these advanced materials. Throughout my study, I investigated how hygrothermal effects, resulting from the combined action of moisture and temperature, can impact the mechanical properties and long-term performance of these materials. The AIDAA XXVII International Congress provides a remarkable platform for sharing insights and knowledge with fellow researchers, experts, and enthusiasts in the aerospace field. It is an exceptional opportunity to exchange ideas, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and contribute to the advancement of aerospace engineering. See you at the AIDAA XXVII International Congress on September 5th! 🚀🛫 #AerospaceEngineering #ResearchPresentation #AIDAA2023

2023…what a great year for our solutions development team. Providing leadership and the necessary skillsets to boost our competitiveness and more importantly to find the right solutions for our customers. Airbus Connected Intelligence are still active in many competitive tenders as the year draws to a close. I am glad to say we have had many successes, but a personal highlight from 2023 was being part of the Moonlight consortium with ESA as our customer. A fascinating project to provide Communications and Navigation services for future Lunar missions! We had a thought provoking end of year review last week, looking at how we can build on those sussesses, learning lessons and continue to improve, change and grow for our future. In ‘23 we have seen a broader spectrum of Space applications, challenges and opportunities. Not just in #securecommunications but also the need for solutions across a broader spectrum of capabilities. Including sensing, resilient communications of course, but also #edgecomputing to enhance communications efficiency and the speed of information dissemination through #Fusion. John F Kennedy once said “Change is the law of life. Those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future”. So, the key to our future is our people, with that in mind I was very pleased to welcome our talented new team members this year! From left to right Ryan Gardener Kirsten Blackwall Ross Muggleton MBA, BSc (Hons) Eileen Banks and Rich Ludbrook. The keen eyes out there would have noted I only introduced five people from the picture. Well, it was also our pleasure to welcome Mike Buckley our Head of Sales for the U.K. U.S and Asia Pacific. Mike expressed in his own inimitable style that we are on a growth curve, with a strong pipeline for 2024. I believe the “Buckley” phrase “Brace yourselves for incoming work!”, was used at least once! 2024, bring it on!! Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!
