Cancer. The urge to act quickly is not only understandable but often merited. However, data has shown that the critical decisions made in a brief window — often under extreme duress — can have significant and costly repercussions. Initial misdiagnosis can lead to worse outcomes and much higher costs for the patient and their employer. Precious time and patient trust can be lost pursuing an ineffective, lower-value treatment. A patient’s overall experience with the cancer care journey can also be compromised by those early decisions. In interviews Quantum Health conducted with cancer survivors, roughly half expressed dissatisfaction with the doctor they’d selected in that brief window and wished they’d had the support to make a more informed choice. What’s the solution to this unacceptable trade-off between the risks of delay and the potential costs of haste? Read the blog by Nelia (Nel) Infante, Senior Director, Solution Efficacy for Quantum Health, to find out 👉 https://lnkd.in/eZ4gZhUJ #healthcareinnovation #healthit #digitalhealth

Today's post is not about preventive health but rather about the importance of accurate diagnostics to ensure the patient is being treated for the right issue. As an advanced diagnostic lab that has processed more than 300,000 patient samples over the years, we have had an opportunity to see the good, the bad and the ugly. This is an actual case study of a person diagnosed with CML (a form of blood cancer) and their journey through the healthcare system in India. Co-authored with Dr. Nikhil Phadke and Dr Kavita Khatod, I hope this post will provide you with ways to ensure this type of situation doesn't happen to you or your loved ones. I'd love to get feedback on whether your find this type of topic interesting (or if I should stick to preventive health), as well as if you find it to be easy enough to follow (or if I should try and simplify the language further). Please share this post with anyone you think would benefit and as always sign up for it if you would like it to come straight to your inbox. Link to the post in the first comment below.
