If you are fully committed to leaving, here are 3 tips to smashing ANY Interview: 1 - Know your audience! What's important to them? What is their job function and what do they NEED to make their job easier? If they're a sales manager, they want to hear about your numbers and achievements. If they're HR, they want to know about your motivations (GREAT opportunity to share your knowledge of their company). After a few minutes speaking to them, you HAVE to mirror their energy. If they're slow and methodical, turn down your pace and match their rhythm. If they're upbeat and enthusiastic, make sure you are too! 2 - Make your experience fit the requirements! This is definitely easier said than done. Sometimes you might not have product experience, or this could be a completely new role for you. However, something I tell hiring managers on a daily basis is to look out for SOFT Skills. So you've not sold product X, however the product you did sell has XYZ similarities. The way you sold it could be the same, who you sold it to could be the same. The soft skills you've developed from one experience can definitely make up the potential shortfall in experience you don't have. (USE Examples) 3 - ABC (Always Be Closing) From the very first minute you should be giving examples as to why you're right for the role. Constantly link your examples back to the job in question. My go to for examples are: HOW did you do X? And WHY did you do it the way you did? When it comes to ending the interview, express a keen interest and finish with 2 - 3 prepared questions: What are your thoughts on my Profile? How do you think I'd fit in the team? What reservations do you have taking me through to the next stage? Again, this gives you a good opportunity to handle any objections with examples.
