Coming from a farming family, my father was the first graduate. And always emphasize on the value of education. My father took to entrepreneurship and unfortunately he met with an accident but he fought that and switched carriers to be able to fend the family. His unwavering determination is what pushed me to work hard to study chemical engineering as I was passionate about the subject. Hi, I'm Gary Subramanyam and this is my story. Before St. Gobain happened, I had a cushy job. Thankfully, God sense prevailed and they began to look for another job would be more fulfilling. I landed two of us, and would you believe it if I said that my newborn daughter chose St. Gobain for me? Yes. I gave her two chips with the company names and she picked the one that had St. Gobain. I joined as production engineer at Saint Gobain Gyproc, Bengaluru in April 2011. Dining St. Gobain was a 360�� shift from my another job. I literally worked shifts and work environment was exactly opposite to what I was used to. Your name issues and growing demands from the customers for some of the major concerns. Few months into the job had me doubting if I had made the right choice. However, with challenges come opportunities. I was able to navigate the tide with able guidance from my mentors, Servant and Harish. From team lead to project leader to QC manager to production manager, the journey has been accelerating. A major milestone in my career was the opportunity to relocate to Paris in a central role. This came out when my work at Bengaluru plant as part of the board weight reduction project in gypsum process innovation was recognized globally. And the initiatives were replicated in the plants across the world. My mentor at Saint Gobain, Helen Bazookas, was a great support for me and my family during my stint in Paris for four years. I was overseeing around 25 plants at that time and Anupam Rawat was also an incredible source of strength and inspiration for me. I would say it is very important to pursue your passion and make it into your profession. When I'm asked what makes me bring my whole self to work everyday, I would say it is this passion and the fact that I work with the people, my other great passion. You need to complete people person. In fact, that is his greatest strength. The kind of networking skills he has, the kind of communication skills they has, the way he reports with the people, everybody is very accessible to him. In the team, he not only identifies good work in them, he rewards them and also he celebrates success along with them. And the way he has taken forward on the silver certification for the factory, that has given a lot of recognition to the Bangalore factory. Last but not the least, sacrifices and support from my wife. In each and every step of my life. Is the backbone of my success. Be open to change. It is the only constant. Mobility has taught me it is not about transcending geographical borders, but about going beyond the boundaries within.

What helped me was having a passion for what I did. Always being keen to learn, and respect and gain knowledge from those who were wiser than me. “My advice to anyone starting a career is to follow your dreams.
