Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Reka Danko, volunteered as a keynote speaker for the 2024 Washoe County Prevention Conference. This conference is hosted by Join Together Northern Nevada and is an educational event aimed at providing learning opportunities for topics around substance misuse prevention, overdose prevention, child abuse prevention, mental health, juvenile justice, and much more. Saint Mary's is proud to support events like the Washoe County Prevention Conference, which aim to make our community a better place.

We are excited to announce that Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has once again been recognized as one of the top Community Hospitals in the United States by Becker’s Healthcare. Saint Mary’s was the only hospital in Northern Nevada to make this prestigious list! Along with seven other Prime Healthcare hospitals, a total of 100 facilities nation-wide were highlighted for their clinical excellence, compassionate care, and economic impact on their communities. Inclusion on this list was based on data from U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CMS star ratings, The Leapfrog Group safety grades, and The Chartis Center for Rural Health. Today, Saint Mary's was presented the Spirit of Unity Award from the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno, which recognizes an organization in the community that helps builds bridges to public health. This past year, we have worked extensively with the School of Public Health to create more opportunities for students to engage with our health network and get a glimpse into what working in healthcare entails. We are honored to receive this recognition and look forward to building our programs with the University. We would also like to congratulate all of the graduates at the University of Nevada, Reno! We commend you for all of your hard work!

This week is National Hospital Week, which was created by the American Hospital Association to shine a spotlight on the many hospitals, health systems, and healthcare workers who strive to save lives daily. Saint Mary's is more than just a hospital, though – our entire health network is made up of several clinics throughout the region, offering expanded access to care in various service lines, a 352-bed hospital, health plans for seniors in our community, and we are still growing! But even more than that, Saint Mary's is made of our incredible team from every corner of our health network. We are able to provide the safest and highest-ranking quality of care in the area because of our dedicated teams. To all of the staff at Saint Mary's – thank you for all that you do!
