The Cape Cod Climate Change Collaborative is pleased to partner with the Massachusetts Housing & Climate Innovation Center (MassHCIC) and serves as their fiscal agent until MassHCIC obtains 501(c)(3) status. MassHCIC, founded through a collaboration between the Homebuilders and Remodelers of Massachusetts and the Climate Collaborative, is an important local organization addressing climate issues. Plans for repair works to the Barbican stumble with the cost of the job to increase by as much as 60% (from last year) due to compliance issues with the City’s climate policies. The City's Climate Action Strategy, adopted in 2020 is described as a 'radical' plan to build climate resilience over the next two decades. It commits the corporation to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its own operations by 2027 and across the Square Mile by 2040. The #biodiversity plan which runs to 2026 aims to provide a network of wildlife habitats across hundreds of the City's open areas. Fantastic achievement this week by our #ClimateTeam and their great #partnership working across the council with many service areas 👏👏👏 Under the Climate Emergency UK CIC #scorecard Huntingdonshire District Council has achieved 27% taking us 96 out of 194. Why so impressive? Because we only approved our #climatestrategy in February of this year, meaning we only had 4 months to be assessed - and in that time we went from zero to 96 👏👏👏 We can't wait for next year to see what impact our initiatives will have - a few examples include... 🌳 Alternative Land Management Policy - allowing better use of council owned land to make positive impact on the #biodiversity of our environment 🌳 An ambitious #decarbonisation plan for our buildings - already having a huge impact 🌳 #HVO pilot for our vehicle fleet, looking forward to including partners on this pilot 🌳 #decarbonisation of our lesire centres - Ramsey already delivering solar power to reduce carbon emissions And so much more, that the team will be sharing over the next few weeks.
