Diageo Corporate Venture Capital

My former team SAP.iO is shuttering its doors. This is one of the most dedicated, hardworking teams at SAP and now, many of these talented individuals need to find their next role. They are folks with experiences running startup accelerators, corporate innovation, VC, marketing, business development, platform/community management, and more. If you are hiring, open to referrals, know about open positions, please DM me so I can make intros and connections. Thank you!

SAP.iO is sunsetting its operations. According to the latest press release SAP will no longer run its SAP.io Foundaries, however SAP will continue to support founders and startups with other programs such as the SAP for Scaleups program and its hyper growth catalyst program. I don’t know the background of this decision but I have two really important reflections about this events having been part of similar organisations that were eventually shut down. Corporate Innovation and Venturing organizations come and go. They might be a part of some reorganisation, or change in management or just misalignment on what how the corporate sees success - in the end, it’s a lot about the current mindset in the compnay and culture. So this thing will happen again and again in other organizations no matter if it’s corporate accelerators, CVCs or other structures they choose to build. But my second and most important thing is that it’s not for nothing. Sometimes you have to let go ans let the people who were involved get on with other things to take their energy and experience to really make impact in the ecosystem. I wrote about the Wayra Mafia a few days ago, originally posted by Claudio Barahona Jacobs and it’s impressive. Here it is if you wish to read: https://lnkd.in/ei7fvXb3 I think that this press release is the beginning of the SAP.io Mafia. I don’t know if people will choose to impact from within or build new organisations or join other corporate innovation organisations but I bet that we will see the impact of the SAP.io Mafia in the next 5-10 years to come.
