President, National Grid New York

Tomorrow I start the next chapter of my career as National Grid's New York President. I am thrilled to work alongside the dedicated and customer-focused team of 11,000 New York employees at National Grid, providing energy to communities across the state while advancing the clean energy transition. I am excited to take on this role at a time when New York is charting a new path toward a sustainable future. National Grid has been at the forefront of planning the clean energy transition for our customers, investing in infrastructure, building new transmission and distribution, and interconnecting new renewable energy, while reducing emissions across our networks. I look forward to working with our team to build on the work that has been done and accelerate our progress. Over the next month, I will be working closely with National Grid’s outgoing New York President Rudolph Wynter. Rudy is a tremendous leader who steered National Grid through an incredible period of change for utilities in New York and brought the New York business to new heights.  He doubled down on the company’s commitment to putting community first – launching Project C and scaling up customer assistance programs. I am thankful to have the opportunity to work with and learn from Rudy, and am committed to carrying his community focus forward. I could not be more excited to work with the talented team at National Grid, our elected leaders, regulators, and communities across the state, as we build networks for the future while providing the safe and reliable service New Yorkers count on and deserve.

Dear Sally, Congratulations on becoming National Grid's New York President! This well-deserved recognition reflects your exceptional leadership and ability to build a diverse, high-performing team. Your journey exemplifies the power of guiding others to realize their full potential, driving the company to new heights. As you begin this new chapter, you stand like a skilled alchemist, blending leadership, innovation, and community commitment into a powerful formula for success. Your vision for advancing New York’s clean energy transition is both timely and essential. Acknowledging the foundation laid by Rudy Wynter, you are set to build upon this legacy with your unique energy and perspective. Leading a team of 11,000 dedicated individuals, your leadership will undoubtedly harmonize their talents, transforming potential into achievement. With your depth of experience and fearless approach, National Grid is in excellent hands. I’m confident that under your guidance, the company will exceed the challenges ahead, ensuring New Yorkers receive the safe, sustainable energy they deserve. Here’s to a future that shines even brighter under your leadership. Congratulations again on this remarkable achievement! Warm regards!'

Hello Sally, Congratulations! You certainly have many challenges in your new roll, locally, Intra State, Inter-State, and, of course, Federally! On this most significant date in the lives of all just, honourable, innocent souls, I Respectfully honour all those who lost their lives, or were affected by the events of 11th September 2001. You won't know me. I retired in 2015 from NG HO in Warwick (Finance, Capital Investment) after 26 years with the Company, but have kept a discrete interest in its "doings". There are obvious network synergies of your previous roles with the TO/SO history of NG, and its US profile. NG's historical landscape is latterly much changed. I was always struck by the Corporate, operational and organisational differences between NG's UK and US operations, and the Customer, Regulatory, and Political environments within which the Company's entities operate. From an old Griddy to a new one, congratulations once more on your appointment. I am sure that you bring with you the skills, experience, depth of character, and, I trust, the innate decency, to lead NG's New York Business. Yours faithfully (even in retirement) Christopher.

Congratulations Sally. I hope all goes well as you start this new chapter. Apogee Power USA has energy storage solutions with NO THERMAL RUNAWAY! I am sure that NG will find our products amazing. Contact me once you are settled in.

Wishing you the best of luck! Your move sends a strong message that the themes of successful infrastructure delivery or management span across industries and sectors, the silos should be broken open to share best practices. Cheers!
