God Has a Plan About three years ago, God sent Pastor Harvey Marquez to The Salvation Army Anaheim Emergency Shelter. His energy spreads his faith to anyone within sight or hearing distance. You can’t help but feel you are safe and in God’s presence when you see or speak to him. He came from private industry as an abuse counselor and was without a job. When he was hired by The Salvation Army Orange County, he says his and his wife’s prayers were answered. Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters.”

Today marks the solemn anniversary of the tragic events that unfolded on September 11, 2001. On this day, we remember and pay tribute to the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the countless heroes who rushed to help, and the enduring spirit of resilience that emerged from the ashes. In the face of unimaginable darkness, we witnessed acts of incredible bravery and unity. First responders, firefighters, police officers, and ordinary citizens displayed extraordinary courage, demonstrating the strength of the human spirit in the most challenging circumstances. As we remember the lives lost and the pain inflicted on that fateful day, let us also honor the memory of those who sacrificed themselves for the greater good. Their selflessness serves as a reminder of the boundless compassion that exists within us all. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to stand together as a nation and as a global community against hatred and extremism. We embrace diversity, champion tolerance, and work toward a world where such devastating acts of violence are never repeated. Let us use this day as an opportunity to reflect, to be kind, and to reach out to one another with compassion and understanding. In doing so, we ensure that the legacy of 9/11 is not only one of tragedy but also one of strength, unity, and hope for a better future. 🗽 #NeverForget #September11 #UnitedWeStand 🗽

This whole week through Monday is tough for me. For probably ALL Veterans and Active Service Members. Memorial Day is next Monday. A day to remember and Honor those who have fallen. Usually while in service.. However, I include those who fell to the war at home among my list of those to Honor. Have lost too many over the years due to combat, training and vehicle accidents, self harm and others. I have an Ancestor Altar I have set up in my home for those who are my (and the hubby's) Ancestors. I also set up an altar for those who I Honor who were not family by blood. At this altar, I Honor those my hubby and I served with (we are both Retired Army), I also Honor those whom I help in their Journey onward as a Death Doula, I include those that Friends and Clients ask me to include as well. How do You Honor those you have lost? Do you have an Altar? What do you usually include on your Altars? I made a graphic to show a few items that are really common. There are No Wrong answers, and every practice is different and Valid! Some may add in a picture or item from the person. Share your ideas in the comments if you like. I love helping others expand their practice or get comfy in talking about stuff like this. Awareness is a great thing. So Much Love and Support, Niki #ancestoraltars #honoringthefallen #honoringancestors #altars #witch #honoringthedead #spiritual #magic #magick #learningmagick #lifecoach #acceptance #awareness #love #sharethehope #veteranowned #techwitchlair #techwitchniki

Where’s Claire Memorial Day Weekend?:Celebrating the Service of Those Who Have Fallen with Those Are Still With Us Douglas MacArthur’s insight that those who serve in the military desire peace more than the rest of us rings true, especially on days like this one. It is they after all, he said, who must pay the greatest penalty. I’m surrounded by veterans, as they celebrate the service of fallen brethren and tackle the often daunting “penalties” visited upon those who survive the battlefield. Rather than rattle off statistics for us to get lost in, I’ll ask a few questions for our joint consideration: Should ANY PERSON who serves or served in the military ever confront the trauma of not having the food needed to thrive? Or…should any one of them, struggle with untreated (though treatable) medical, mental or emotional health challenges? Or…should even one of them ever feel alone? My answers for veterans and for all of us is a resounding NO! As is consistently the case with hunger, it exists with veterans alongside other barriers. I count my company today as heroes— not only because of what they did on the battlefield, but for how they bravely fight what, according to some here, is a far more difficult battle—returning home. Due, in large part, to the vision and support of #DanStarks, veterans have a platform here with which to learn from and lean on each other. Their shared experiences are being leveraged in powerful—groundbreaking even—ways. Governor #MarkGordon is here, as are the First Lady’s fingerprints (#JennieGordon), and #TimSheppard (#WyomingHungerInitiative) and #RachelBailey(#FoodBankofWyoming). If you’d like to know my precise location in this beautiful state, take a look at the video below. #WheresClaire #HonorService #feedingamerica #MakeHungerHistory

You may see me post about Mighty Oaks Foundation a bit on here. It’s because this organization has blessed my family more than anyone could ever know. I only hope that the right person on here sees these posts and is given the motivation to go or motivation to convince their spouse to go (like I did 😅). One thing that I have learned in the decade since my husband got out of the Marines is that when people talk about the transitioning service member it’s rarely mentioned that the transition is an ongoing process. Is there an end date when the veteran is officially transitioned? To my knowledge, no. (Does combat experience play a role in this?🤔) However, while we may experience challenges and obstacles that civilian families look at us all cross eyed over, we also get to experience so many incredibly genuine people who normalize this process and help us find success in careers, mental health, and family. As part of the after care for Mighty Oaks, we were gifted a trip to Monterey to attend the Family Life marriage conference over the weekend. It was a fun, challenging, deep, emotional, fullfilling weekend. I was reminded of the incredible work my guy has done and of how uniquely resilient he is. The success of any military transition begins right here at the core. Supporting him along this journey is the greatest gift. ❤️🤍💙 #militarytransition #militaryspouse #veterantransition #veteran #resilience #militaryspouses #militaryfamilies #veteranssupport #veteranshelpingveterans #montereybay #familylife #weekendtoremember #monterey #montereybay #marriage #marriagegoals #mightyoakswarriorprograms

We come together on this dignified day to celebrate the courage of those who have taken on the difficulties of safeguarding our nation. September 6th serves as more than just a reminder of the strong ties that unite our country and its defenders to bravery, comradery, and endurance. Remember today's lesson: Endurance is our bulwark, and togetherness is our power. A shared bond that cuts across our differences and serves as a reminder that as a country, we are strong enough to face any problem head-on. Let's reawaken the spirit of patriotism that flows through our veins on this National Defense Day. Let's uphold the principles that our soldiers fought for—loyalty, bravery, and compassion—in order to honor their sacrifices. Let's endeavor to bring about a peaceful future where children's laughter takes the place of gunshots and the victims of the past pave the way for a better tomorrow. Let's keep in mind that our country's power comes from its people's collective will, not just from its armed forces, as the sun sets on this day. Let's commit to helping one another, fostering understanding, and upholding the ideas that our heroes sacrificed their lives for. #PakistansPride #UnityInDiversity #ResilientNation #September6Celebration #ContriveSolution

Armistice day. 11th of November each year we take a moment to remember and recognise those who gave their lives in WW1 and in every subsequent conflict since. The Red Poppy appeal coincides with that remembrance and serves to support UK service veterans and families affected by those conflicts. None of this remembrance glorifies war. It does the opposite; it reminds us of the absolute and total horror of war and the terrible pain it inflicts. None of it has to do with politics; it isn’t about the rights and wrongs of any conflict. That is for another day and another place. Armed services staff don’t get to choose what they are asked to do any more than teachers choose the curriculum they teach, any more than our doctors and nurses choose whose life to save. But unlike any other profession, the profession at arms operates under a mandate to use lethal force, to take life, and to do so with unlimited liability - they commit to sacrificing their own lives in service of the nation. Let that the magnitude of that sink in. How many of us would willingly do that? How many of us would see our children make that decision? Not many. Those that do are a special group and we should cherish their courage. What Remembrance is absolutely about is that moment of solemnity where we reflect on the sacrifices others have made so that we have the right to speak, the right to disagree, the right to protest. So that others may also have that right. It is that one moment of the year where we turn to the families, loved ones and friends of those who never came home, or who have come home injured, and we offer our support and recognition for that unique service and sacrifice. Those who choose to serve in the armed forces commit to a unique and very special responsibility. Everyone who calls this country home, whatever their political or social stripe, owes every one of those people the utmost respect - it is in no small part because of them that we, all of us, enjoy the privileges and opportunities of freedom.
