Seriously... take a hike! It's good for the mind, body, and soul. Mind: Disconnecting from the day-to-day and technology, etc., allows better focus, attention, and connection with self, others, etc. Body: Hiking provides a whole host of physical benefits including strengthening muscles, reducing stress, increasing energy levels, and more. Soul: For me, hiking helps me remember my place in the universe - it helps me to literally and physically touch things that remind me that I'm part of the bigger world around me. These are just a few of the benefits... so, again, I'll say, seriously, take a hike! :-) https://ow.ly/BAkA50PQOrS

Consulting | Unarmed Combat | Emergency Responder | Mountaineer | Life Coach I Shaping 'Peak IX Consulting'
When avoiding sleep helps you stay fit..!! High #mountains are not usual habitat for humans, but the exploration-additive species has scaled heights braving sub-zero temperatures and thinner air. But gaining altitudes without protective measures invites an unwanted guest, AMS - Acute Mountain Sickness - that can spoil your #trekking or #hikingadventures. "No sleep during daytime" - a mantra that trekkers or hikers, mainly those going beyond 5-6k ft ASL, should remember like the password of their personal computer. Yes, the day's hike could be very tiresome, but #mountaineers will vouch that avoiding a daytime nap on that altitude with air much thinner than usual to breathe is one of the sure-shot formulae that can help you #stayhealthy (and alive..!!). *Picture: An afternoon play session after the day's training at the Base Camp of Nehru Institute of Mountaineering at an altitude of 12,300 ft. #survivalskills #altitude #adventures #trekking #hiking #climbing #wellnesstips #safetyfirst #ams #mountainsmatter

Do you enjoy alone time? 🙋♀️🙋♂️ I love time with family and friends, but I know I also thrive when that is balanced with alone time. ⏳️ This weekend, I took an empty Saturday and decided to challenge myself. I decided to do a long hike solo from the sentrum to Storheia and back! ⛰️ Here are my top 7 reasons to try hiking solo: 1️⃣ Go at your own pace - go fast🐆, go slow🐢, take a break on a bench 2️⃣ Gain self-confidence🗺 - practice your map skills or make a new connection by asking for directions 3️⃣ Feel connected with nature - stare at the bumblebees🐝 in the flowers or stop to listen to the birds 4️⃣ Intuition - practicing listening to your body - what do you want and need? What are you curious about? 🤔🙃 5️⃣ Meet yourself (and your thoughts) along the way - take time to process your day and week without conversations or screens to distract you😶🌫️ 6️⃣ Get grounded - take time to breathe and really use all 5 senses to be present 👀👂👃🖐👅 7️⃣ Create more headspace - practice listening for stuck thought patterns and replacing them with healthy ones (Example: focusing on everything that went wrong/didn’t happen last week vs showing yourself compassion and celebrating what you did do). #mentalfitness 🧠❤️ Do you like to hike? Have you tried solo hiking? Let me know what you love about hiking in the comments below! 🙃⬇️👇 #getoutside #utpåturaldrisur #bymarkatrondheim #mentalfitness #lessoverthinking #lessoverwhelm #morepresent #morehappy #selfawareness #moreclarityandcourage #sturdycoaching

PAIN & PASSION Just back from another high altitude hike. This one was not lung busting in terms of altitude ( Phulara Ridge @3700 mtrs); but it brought other challenges. My old slipped disc issue flared up so much so that I couldn't sit without back support . A ligament on the left ankle ( my left foot is larger than my right) kept paining . A stressed metatarsal on the right foot kept irritating intermittantly. But the strange thing was that most of these ailments were noticeable only when sitting at camp after the trek. On the trail (despite a backpack and rocky terrain) one felt no back pain and the foot pain easily ignored. Sure; you could say you feel less pain when muscles are warm ; but I think the reason was different. During hiking, the enjoyment ( and adrenaline) was so much that the pain seemed non-existent. In a sense when you are doing something you are passionate about; even if you have pain, you don't feel it. Like in hiking; in careers or life you will always encounter 'pain' in different forms - challenges, setbacks, bosses, frustrations, politics, bad luck etc etc. After all ' no pain no gain' right? :) But if you are doing something that you are truly passionate about; the pain isn't just bearable; it magically disappears. Chase your passion. It's life's best painkiller #passion #mountaingyaan #

Day 4... What's important? What's not? 33 degrees heat, 5kgs of weight on your shoulder, 3000 feet altitude, Pain in the knees, Sweat pouring down the back, Tired, hungry and cranky children at the end of 4 hrs of trek, All these things are not important!!! Getting clear skies on hikes, Having a supply of water and food, Adventure and excitement of reaching a summit, Being healthy and capable of climbing, Having loved ones by the side! All these things are important!!! Life is all about perspective... Same things can be looked at in different ways... You can choose which mindset to have.. You should know what's important and what's not!! #traveldiaries #outdooreducation
